Great views and very easy to walk. Nice wide trails so it’s easy to navigate. Lots of nice scenery.

the trail connects to stout grove but you have to ford a stream that can be deep and fast moving. easy to miss trailhead, right after bridge tucked away

Beautiful forest walk. Very quiet and beautiful mini waterfalls that give the best ambience to meditate. We had the trail all to ourselves.

Me and my friends went up the right side of this trail and I was significantly more difficult than it sounds. It’s also full of small landslides and very narrow.

Amazing redwoods. Seasonal bridge was not available but a giant tree across the creek gave us access. Awesome grove! Take the dirt backroad to crescent city and you may see some elk around the time you hit pavement

Wonderful, easy hike through the giants. If it's warm out, take a swim in the river! Beautiful views!

Great trail that you hardly see anyone after the 1st 1/4 mile. Quite a few trees down today but easy to get over. Actually saw a trail volunteer for the 1st time. He was up in age and not having an easy time. The trail to Lohse Grove was a little overgrown but doable and pretty wet due to recent rains. One of the better trails in the area...

Always a fun and beautiful hike. Stopped to jump in the freezing river last time i went. Watch out for wasps near spring/summertime.

Brought a young kid w us and he was in awe of the trees and river. Easy walk for all of us. Rained off and on, but there was enough tree coverage to keep us mostly dry. Beautiful place to experience. Worth the drive.

This trail has water, ferns, wildlife, and trees.

Love this trail! My husband and I went to Stout Trail and enjoyed every minute of it. Beautiful views of the Smith River and a couple of benches a long the way. Highly recommend it.

P.s. There's no parking entrance. It's on the side of hwy199 right before you cross the bridge where it meets up with the 197. Blink and you might miss the trailhead.

Nice family trail. No uphills or downhills which makes it easy for small children or anyone who can't walk much.

Did this trail w/ an 8 and 5 year old. So it's not hard. Leads you to the beautiful Smith River and runs into the Hiouchi trail. The drive there was also breathtaking!

My wife and I hiked this trail today and loved it. We encountered a few other hikers along the way, but overall pretty much had it all to ourselves. Between the magnificent trees, the picturesque stream, excellent trail quality and early fall colors, we enjoyed the whole of the experience. We'll definitely return.

Great quick scenic hike through ancient redwoods. Nice and easy access and so quiet! Definitely an essential trail when passing through Jedidah redwoods.

Nice trail. Quite an easy walk. The mostly shaded trail leads to a nice beach at the end . Definitely recommend going a little farther to the Stout Grove. The only problem was that you can hear 199 for a bit of the start.

Really can't do this on as drawn unless you're camped there. You can only drive in and do it from the day use area. Nice little trail through the park and Brook enjoyed jumping off the bridge and playing in the water

Beautiful hike, but lots of people. We were out the first week of August. There is a tree at the end that you walk through that has a hornets nest, my husband got stung. Great views of the river.

I was afraid this hike would be too easy. It was, but the indescribable collection of massive redwoods here is well worth your time.

Short easy hike with huge trees all around.

One lane dusty road in summer. Avoid weekend crowds if you want to walk.

Put 3 very good trails together today preparing for a backpacking trip on the Rogue in less than 2 weeks. All 3 are gorgeous and I've done 2/3 of this one many times. My guess is the mileage for this trail is 14+ and the elevation gain is about half of what is shown due to my hand drawing the trail from a map. I rated it hard only due to the length. My lab enjoyed the trail and was ready for more. I stopped and swam her a couple of times today while this old man took a break. She is a service dog. The trail is signed for no dogs but I've seen many including a couple today on the river.

Nice redwood trail that doesn't get a whole lot of use. Have started it on both ends and have done it many times in the last 2 years. The smaller trails across the highway get a lot of traffic but this beautiful trail gets ignored.

Nice little loop almost across from Walker Rd. It's nearly flat, wide and easy trail for almost anyone. It doesn't get as much traffic as the trails across the road.

This is my go to trail in the area and is beautiful. During the off season I seldom see anyone. I've done this one at least 10 times with a half dozen different people. Miles of awesome redwoods with a few viewpoints of the Smith River with 2 places you can walk down to. Near the junction during part of the summer they put up a temporary bridge to Jed Smith campground and the trail gets more use. The trail also goes above and next to Mill Creek. Mill Creek is a major salmon spawning ground and farther up off this trail is closed during spawning season. The actual length of this trail is 10.1 miles per a friend's gps to Howland Hills Rd.
