Got to the trail head and trail is closed due to a mountain lion siting on 1/13/18. The posting states that the lion is suspected to still be in the area,do not continue. This is why the state of California should allow folks to carry a pistol while hiking, just a thought. Ill try this hike another day.

love this trail so many options fun to explore

Loved this trail! Had some good uphills but not too much for a beginner like me. Will definitely do again. Maybe try my hat at some trail running next time. Good trails for that pretty well maintained. There are some slightly overgrown portions but not much. Love to bring others back with me too!

Nice trail above Costco in San Luis. A little boring and can be a little overgrown. Came across a rattler near one of the wooden bridges in the oak grove. No one on the trail though. Nice view of Los Osos Valley Road and area.

Super fun ride.

Great hike .. a bit rocky at some points .. awesome views

Closed as of Jan 29 due to wet conditions.

Easy trail. Bog thistle trail is only moderately steep. Lots of ridge hiking. Cool views of Mt Bishop as well as Madonna. At the top is Morro view with a bench to enjoy the view!

Just started investigating this hike.
There are plenty of options

There were no previous comments for this hike so thought I would add one. This was a really pleasant hike although much of the trail is pretty rocky. Nice amount of elevation gain to get some good views of the valley and even out to Morro Rock. It's not as much of a loop as it is an out and back, but that's ok.
I was really was not expecting to see wildflowers with how dry it's been, but was pleasantly surprised that there were still quite a few out. Also the cool ocean breeze keeps the temperature very pleasant for hiking.
We followed the signs to Morro Rock view and found a nice bench to rest on while enjoying the view before heading back down. The whole hike was just under 4 miles.

it's fun, not really hard but still a workout in the heat
