This beautiful loop starts just past the end of Fairway drive. After you cross the stream, stay to the left and you'll see a trailhead on the left about 50 yards down the path. Be sure to take your time, this climb is steep! The uphill part of this trail tilts the difficulty rating to the more difficult end of the moderate rating. After your climb you will be be rewarded by the amazing vistas of Ignacio and Lucas valleys when you arrive up on Big Rock Ridge. Turn left and head to the "down" portion, which is prettty steep at times - make sure you have your poles. At the bottom you'll end up a block away from the end of Fairway. In all a fabulous loop.Show more

Take Fairway Dr in Novato to Thornhill. Park on that small street and see the open space at the end of the street. This is a pretty steep climb so bring poles and good hiking shoes. When you reach big rock ridge you'll be about 200 yards from the top of the Ponte fire road.Show more
