Very pretty ride along the lake’s north shoreline. Mostly flat but there are some inclines that provide a slight challenge.

great Sunday morning ride, awesome trail for mtn bikes and hiking. There's a farmers market next to the dirt parking lot Sundays from 1030 to 3pm, so I was picked up a nice basket of organic strawberries to snack on after a long bike ride.

Gorgeous hike in the spring time, beautiful lake views and rolling hills and an abundance of birds and wild flowers and blooming cactus are everywhere.

Lightly trafficked is open to interpretation, but this is a great trail system for mtn biking if you don't want anything truly technical or hilly. You can definitely find some good steep hills once you start exploring, but this more of a fitness ride than a skills/test yourself scenario. For a bit of fun and a great climb, head east to Raptor Ridge. The descent makes the climb worth it.

Good flat run

Did half this hike until darkness came. Beautiful views but not much shade

Amazing views of the lake and wild life while having choices to bike, run or hike many different trails. My go to place!

Lake Hodges is my go to place for trail running and mountain biking (beginner). Lots of options and you can find more challenging routes as you get better. This location is great because I don't feel too far from civilization when I park on the Rancho Bernardo Community Park side. Can return to my car or the park for a break, refuel, and go again.

I like the view and plenty of other trails to connect with. I won't ride here on the weekend as way too many families and hiker groups on the trails but weekdays are great for a quiet non technical ride for stretching the legs.

Pro: Hiked from Rancho Bernardo neighborhood to Old Glory (flag on top of a hill). Great 9 mile in/out hike with spectacular views, tons of wildflowers and great bird watching. I did this hike in late March 2016.

Con: Always prefer a loop hike and this was an in/out hike. Poison oak got me :-(

Will return. Great views. Challenging ascent for me, but not overwhelming. Lots of rocks (glad to have worn good hiking shoes.) Heavy traffic, dogs and families. Some bikers. Elfin Forest (no signs from road indicate Lake Hodges). Parking was packed, ended up on the highway.

Started at the trail head from Sunset Dr. and hiked along Lake Hodges until I reached the dam and then headed back. Round trip was around 13.5 miles or so. All in all, great hike to do! No crazy inclines (you have the option of climbing Bernardo Mountain if you have the urge to summit a mountain). The first 1.5 miles or so wasn't that great as you walk parallel to the freeway and you can hear the noise of traffic. But after that, you get that peaceful loneliness with nature that most hikers crave. The trail is shared with equestrian riders and bikers, so be mindful of your surroundings. Also, watch out for rattlesnakes haha. Bring lots of water and a snack.

Started at south side of lake hodges did a 7.7 mile loop across bridge 6.7.13 water super low today. very fast trail mostly downhill first half . creek crossing around 1 mile in. cactus . sycamore trees and great views of lake from upper trail. ended up at a parking lot and followed a trail south of boat launch where an old rusty car was .. looped back on lower trail. slight incline then mostly flat. did 7.7 miles in under an hour great fast trail with great views! stay on trails as I heard several rattlesnakes. if hiking bring hiking stick to protect yourself from snakes just in case.
