Good climb. Views aren’t stunning, but beautiful enough

Pretty hard uphill. And down hill is not easy on the knees either. Great view and quiet.

Gorgeous trail. Streep incline and good workout. Nice views. Very limited parking.

River + amazing views + farm animals = great adventure

Great hike! Beautiful scenery, especially on the way back up!!It feels like I was hiking around the hill. There is some sun but most of the trail is shady. First mile is straight up which is hard but it flattens out and descends which is okay. At the bottom is a small area to hang out/picnic/community garden. There is also a barn which has sheeps and goats which are fun to see. Trail is not marked well!! Can be cold during the winter at the top! Small parking lot of about 10 cars total. I found a spot on a non holiday weekend Sunday at around 1130am, otherwise find parking in the neighborhood.

Good elevation gain to start. Down hill is moderate and easy on the knees. The final section is along a creek. Look for banana slugs!!

Minus one star for $10 parking fees. But other than that, an easy and lightly trafficked hike.
We did hostel trail to creek trail looping up toyon hill and back to hostel trail.

No place to park unless you want to pay $10. Not worth it for a 2 mule hike. Try nearby Arastradero Preserve instead.

Great hike. Initial hike is a bit steep, but it levels out after the first mile.

We started at the creek trail (not hostel) that goes along the creek where I saw families with kids playing the water. This part of the trail has a lot of shade and beautiful trees. The elevation gains steadily at beginning and then really picks up. Once at the top, there are signs to head to Black Mountain, also the trail section with no shade. We continued up and past the sign until we found the Hostel Trail (this took us a while as we were confused as to whether we were headed to Black Mountain instead, however there are definite signs for hostel trail once at the cross road). It was mostly downhill from there and we pretty much ran most of the trail till bottom. We also saw beautiful views of the valley in distance. This trail gave us a great workout!

Beautiful trail! Signs aren’t very clear, so definitely check Google maps or AllTrails at intersections.

Also note: the parking lot is small and was full, so we ended up parking a mile away. As a result we had to cut the loop short because we were running out of daylight, but it was still great.

Trail head easy to find - start of the hike goes up and up - backside of the hike was really nice fall hike - i would come back again

Could not find free parking.

Walked this one in late May and the creek was quite full (it was a rainy winter). The second part through Elephant mountain is definitely less interesting.

Nice one. If you plan on doing the loop, all of it, it is very diverse. Tight paths, steep ones, flowers, waterfalls...
Medium hard...but relaxing.
Get your maps or apps because the signs along the way are pathetic.

Beautiful trail. Nice wildflowers. Didn't see mountain lion.

This hike is hard, rather than moderate, mainly due to the steep, long, climb to Black Mountain. On a clear day the Bay views are fantastic.

The 1st mile is straight up which was challenging. Then you get to a lovely meadow and have a lot of options. There are lovely wildflowers, and I didn't see any wildlife but there were signs posted about recent mountain lion sightings that advise people not to hike alone. It was nice and shady, and good for a hot day. I'll definitely go again.

harder than I thought. Not too long, but it's not easy for my dad. We did it anyway.

Small parking lot, with overflow parking about 0.4 mi away at Foothill college. The initial 0.9 miles is a steep incline. When you turn off towards Hidden Villa after 0.4 miles, you make your way down again to the creek. With all of the rain right now, it is a very relaxing trail along the creek, until you head up Ewing Hill, and then make your way back. When it is hot outside, portions are under direct sun and can be pretty hot.
