Hiking

Walked it three days straight in the mornings at 5am. Didn’t need water because it was cool. Only thing I don’t like about it is the observatory is the only location I can use the bathroom at.

HikingGreat!Off trail

Great during Covid! You can do it in the loop or take the stairs up for a very vigurous climb. Once you reach the top garden, there are a lot of nooks and side trails to explore. Very lush and beautiful, a bit like a rainforest in the desert. We went friday evening and saw a total of 4 people while we wandered around for 1+ hour

Great trail! I love taking the stairs up to the garden & then come down on the wide path. Beautiful views. I start at 6am and there’s always people on other trails which makes me feel safer. Only down side is owners don’t pick up after their dogs

Really beautiful views of the hills! I went at 9am and it was SO HOT. So I recommend going earlier :) on a friday morning, there wasn’t trouble finding parking. Took exactly 2 hours at a pretty slow pace. Also we saw a snake!!

VERY overcrowded, but I expect that in the city! Views were great! You have to do this at least once in your life to see the Hollywood sign & the city, but there’s better hikes in LA. Two negative comments: 1. Horse poop. There was SO MUCH. Every few meters. They should really use poop collection bags on the horses with how heavily trafficked and popular this trail is. 2. SO many inconsiderate people not wearing masks. Luckily the trail is wide pretty much the entire time, so it’s easy to keep your distance, but it was pissing me off seeing how many people didn’t care about the lives of the people and CHILDREN around them by not wearing one. Other than that, the hike was pretty easy, even beginners could do this. There wasn’t shade so be prepared if you sunburn easy, wear a hat and lots of sunscreen. Bring plenty water. Quick hike. Very much worth it! Highly recommend avoiding peak times, especially if you’re bringing children. We went around noon, so that’s why it was so busy. Leave early morning to avoid crowds and get decent parking. :)

Beautiful hike. Did not expect the amount of stairs we had to climb but it’s well worth it once you get to the top.

Trail is okay but the name can be misleading, you will pass by a old zoo has a couple old cages they are cool to take picture and play in but that’s only a small part of the trail very small lol so don’t expect to see a whole empty zoo

Heads-up : this hike trail won't take you under the Hollywood Sign as shown in the trail picture. You have to detour to watch it from bottom. However, you get to see it from a mile in a side view. Other than that, it's a highly trafficked wonderful trail. No shade. We started around 8:15 am were able to finish it in about 3:15 hrs. Overall, very good hike.

Over crowded. Waaaaay to many people not wearing masks. Signs say no groups but this trail is full of them. Trail has a lot of horse poop and dog poop. Still on the hunt for a trail that feels safe for a solo hiker. Good views and at least the trail is wide.

HikingGreat!

Go early as there's not a ton of shade toward the top. Nice wide trail, plenty of room to social distance. Good for dogs.

Came on a Friday after 7am. Plenty of parking if you get there early. Free parking and easy to get to from Canyon Drive. I took my 11 year old Niece and she was able to hike up. Not much shade on this trail. Very large dirt path/road that's maintained. I did see two LAPD officers patrolling, felt safe on this trail. Well populated but simple to social distance.

My dog was disappointed. The Taco/Bell trail is NOT what he was expecting. :-/

Well-maintained trail. Clockwise route seems less intense (saw lots of people struggling up the final hill, seems it would be harder to go Counter-Clockwise). Limited shade so bring water and wear a hat!

Covid-19 friendly! Came here on a Sat in July at 10 am. Parking lot was full, had to street park. Actual hike is on wide roads, good possibility to social distance. Not very scenic in terms of plants (dirt roads and desert shrubs). Feet get very dusty. Nice panoramic views of the city and the Hollywood sign. Probably a “do it once” kind of thing - you get very close to the sign but that’s mostly it

Amazing view, wide trail of mostly dirt and an intense incline for a mile. And another intense incline of almost a mile paved to see behind the sign. We went early and during the week so it was not crowded at all. Saw behind the sign and the front, super fun! Lots of photo ops.

Pretty hike. Lots of people but wide roads. Had a group of horses ride up while we were walking up the trail. Not much shade but great view of the Hollywood sign and the city in general.

Hiking

Great hike. I hiked to the lower view of the Hollywood sign, and got some great pictures. I suggest also taking the road behind the sign, gorgeous views of the valley on the back side. It was a relatively steep incline the first 1.5 miles or so...then it got pretty easy. This was a fun hike for me, as it is only 10 minutes from my house.
