beautiful easy trail!!

One of my favorite trails in the city and a major reason why I love living here. The views are stunning. Well worth the effort.

It is a very lovely trail. I have done this trail several times in July - August. Great weather and great views. Its bit of a hill with a grand end at a lovely cliff enclosed beach.

The hike was easy yet enjoyable, and the views were great. Packed a wind jacket for this and it was a blessing to have.

- My 7 and 10 years old kids enjoyed this hike, especially the adventurous rocky descent to pirate cove beach and climbing back up! This is what makes this trail fun and unique!
- Perfect distance (1.8 miles, from Muir beach) to Pirate cove for a morning snack, then back to Muir beach for a picnic lunch! (3.6 miles total)
- We took the flight of stairs, as a shortcut from Muir beach to the coastal trail and down to Muir beach, on the way back.
- Beautiful scenic views, saw two bunnies, and a snake!

Très jolie balade à 30 min de San Francisco. Dommage d’avoir à longer la route en fin de promenade.

Parking: parked at trailhead parking on west side of bridge about 11:30.
Took slacker hill to hawk hill, with a detour to black sands beach, which I would definitely recommend if the weather is nice! Nice ups and downs - enough to get a workout but not enough to kill you. Gorgeous views of the golden gate and Marin headlands.
Would take the loop counter clockwise -you end with a gentle 2 mike descent with beautiful views. Nice way to end the hike!

Fun trail, not super difficult, get an early start, when the sun is out it gets pretty hot, there's no shady spots on the trail. I started at 10am and got a little tan. I went counter clockwise, uphill at the beginning, pretty easy inbetween and then uphill again for the finale.

Really neat for a hike in the city, you don't feel like these gorgeous views can be so close to the metropolitan area. We were able to park right at the bottom of the trail on a weekday, but it was still quite busy. Wonderful if you don't mind passing tons of people on your nature walks, but we did pass tons of people. It's rated moderate because there are stairs. Look for smaller trails going down to the beach below, you can get a better view of the gg bridge, but watch out for homeless that hang out there and harass people. Worth it, would do it again, not the quietest or most serene.
Bathrooms available at the visitor center, parking is free.

Amazing views, not too steep, can accommodate kids.

Excellent views of the bridge from many different vantage points.

Beautiful and scenic trail! Add this one to your list if you haven’t already! :)

Incredibly beautiful

It's a good hiking, with some easy and some hard (moderate) parts and the most beautiful views!

Nice climb to the top of the ridge although it is exclusively on a road; once you get to the trees at the top the trail gets a bit more interesting with a view of The Farallones. We walked the horse trail on the way back which provides for a more rugged experience.

Loved this trail, I just completed it today. By far one of the most scenic routes and had amazing views. The hills were a bit of a struggle but it was all worth it in the end.

Nice, short historic trail that traverses an historic battery and then to an up close and personal view of the GGB. I give it 3 stars for the crowds, 4 stars for the view.

Great hike with wonderful views and some incredible Bay Area history. Not difficult but not flat by any means. A perfect hike for a sunny day in the Bay. This would be a good hike to go on and bring a small picnic with you.

My favorite evening/sunset trail. There's a lot of steep, rocky areas to scramble up so I wouldn't recommend this trail if it rained recently. Beautiful views and not too heavily trafficked (although it's usually empty around sunset).

Nice trail. Easy to moderate areas. Really small parking lot, but other lot near the hotel and beach. Lots of tall grassy areas so watch out for ticks. When we got home, I found a tick on me and in my dog's armpit.

Great hike. Rattlesnake crossed the path!

Very easy hike w amazing coastal views

Part of the loop trail is right next to the road where cars zooming by, which makes the last 5 minutes of our hike unpleasant. Otherwise, good view, nice combination of terrain, and perfect distance for a quick hike.

trail running

Very few people. A little more flattened gravel path than small trail than I hoped. Just rained past few days, the running streams along the trail sound beautiful. Uphills are nice and challenging to run continuously.

Beautiful scenery. This hike is relatively easy (some parts uphill), and goes through various landscapes, from coastal views to historical landmarks. Perfect time of the year to catch the blossoming flowers. Make sure to go to the lighthouse. Unfortunately for us, NPS only allows access to it on Sundays from 12:30pm to 3pm this time of the year.

Relatively short but lovely hike, especially on a non-foggy day when walking towards the beach and looking between the two hills that form the "Canyon". I always enjoy that view whenever I'm on this trail.

Solid hike. Not too intense on the way to Muir beach but definitely a work out on the way back but worth it with the views. Apply sun screen very little to no shade!
