HikingGreat!

Absolutely gorgeous views. Perfect Bay Area weather with marine fog floating by. Well marked trail. Remember, what you climb down, you must hike back up. Lots of stairs down to the beach but so worth every step.

I hiked this at night to see the Perseid meteor shower and it was excellent. The trail being exposed would be punishing in the summer sun, but at night it means for open skies. I was also above the fog line and able to see Oakland, Richmond, SF, the Golden Gate Bridge, Pacifica and the Pacific. I didn’t use my headlamp but of course bring one and poles for the steep first and last 1.25 miles. Ignore my recording, I forgot to end my hike at the bottom

Hiked this on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Crowded, but an absolutely beautiful hike with great views of the ocean. Highly recommended for a quick, easy hike with some elevation gain.

Beautiful trail leading to Black Sands Beach. The earlier you go, the more likely you can snag a parking spot—very limited at the front of the trail. Lots of rabbits, butterflies, and cool breezes. Started getting crowded after noon. Water isn’t too cold! So beautiful and the black sand was definitely a marvel. The hardest part of the trail was going back up after getting to the beach. You can also park near the beach if you didn’t want to do the trail! Just be prepared for the staircase down and up!

Steep descent to an interesting black sand beach. We went on a colder damp day. Mild amount of garbage on the beach. The East portion had a bit of a strange stink as well. I’m sure it would be nicer on a sunnier warmer day, especially if the beach was cleaner. I could see it as a peaceful place potentially.

There should be a Trail Condition for “paved”. It’s one of those items people seem to love or not. The whole uphill/downhill section is a wide paved road (meaning hot, plus being on the windless bay side of the ridge). Paved reduces the stars for me, but otherwise it’s a nice, accessible city hike.

HikingGreat!Washed out

We hiked this trail on a beautiful Sunday afternoon so it was a little crowded, thankfully people wore their masks and kept their distance. The weather was sunny and warm and this trail had little to no shade, I definitely recommend checking the weather and packing your sunblock before heading out. Most of the trial was well traveled on so it was pretty easy, we did encounter some areas that had been washed out and were tricky to navigate. There were a lot of steep cliffs so I do not recommend taking small children or strollers on this trail. The views of Pacifica were gorgeous and there were plenty of spots were you could sit and enjoy the view.

Fun trail - did it solo, went counter clockwise to do the steep climb (via fire road) first and it was worth the workout. I did elect to trek down to pirates cove through the jagged path to the beachhead. it was very secluded and worth the short detour/break. the rest is all gravy - enjoy.

Fairly easy hike and hard to believe this is right in SF. Amazing views that are def photo worthy! Was crowded when I went but it’s corona season and not much else to do except to be out in nature. Everyone was respectable

Overall the trail was an amazing hike but it’s for the inexperienced. There’s lots of big hills that I didn’t expect to climb that continue for more than half of the hike. The trailhead doesn’t have any parking so you have to park below near the neighborhood and walk to the trail head. Make sure to bring lots of water there’s not too much shade.

Enjoyed the trail a lot. Good climb to the top! Seeing the old bunkers on top of Hill 88 was worth it! Hiking the last part through the valley was pretty.

Good trail, you can actually park and start the loop at the Sweeney ridge trailhead instead of the college. Fun to go to the ocean and see it all! More crowded and less mask wearing near the ocean but rest of the trail was good. Recommend starting early in the summer so it isn’t too hot (we started around 8:45Am)

Trail is beautiful. Best if done early in the day as it gets crowded after 9:30 AM. Tons of trails to connect to which can lengthen the hike if you’re looking for something more challenging.
