Hiking

We tried to hike this trail today but it was closed 7/8 and 7/9 for trail maintenance. Bummer! I’m giving a 5 star review though because the trail looks pretty awesome. We ended up parking at Fisherman Trail and walking down the wood steps to black sands beach and it was a fabulous day!

Beautiful trail that has a great view the entire time. The beach was small but the view was amazing. Too bad the rangers cut down the swings :(

Started uphill at Fox trail (steep) to Coastal trail down to pirate cove (rocky and steep) then back at Tennessee trail is 5.5 miles. Beautiful view of the ocean and the valley, gets windy.

Awesome dynamic trail. My girl friends and I love this trail. We first start with the beach boardwalk going into the beach, then up the trail to a field of flowers (in the spring and summer). After you climb the stairs there’s a scenic view over looking the endless beach and Pacifica. It’s lovely, and a bit windy. Near the docks often you can find folks fishing and crabbing. It’s a great scene for family or friends.

Highly trafficked. Paved paths. Dog friendly. Astonishing views. Bring a picnic blanket in case the mood strikes for a picnic by the beach.

Worth the trek down to get to the water and see the bridge. Beach area to hangout for a while before heading back up.

Beautiful trail! I got on the loop at the Morning Sun Trailhead (forgot to record). Best to start early in the morning this time of year. The trail is pretty exposed and it gets hot quick. Rodeo Beach was a great halfwayish break point to eat a snack and dip your feet in the water. Parts of the trail were a bit overgrown near the Marine Headlands visitor center, so just watch out for ticks and poison oak.

Absolutely gorgeous. Not a tough one. The steps look steep but my sister and I are overweight and we did fine! Would do it again. The sound of the waves were awesome too.

Great trail with amazing views of the ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. Family and dog friendly. Lots of people but everyone was respectful of distance and most are wearing a mask.

Hot but beautiful trail especially along the coast. Side trip to pirates cove is very rocky. Straight up and down.

Amazing views of the city and fireworks. On the way out, due to darkness, we were already making loud noises....we scared a mountain lion that was on the right side of the path, and he ran fast across to the other side and down into the trees. It was amazing to listen to how fast his feet were hitting the ground. Be safe!

We added Black Sands Beach to the trail. It’s lacking a good area for resting, otherwise it’s gorgeous.

This has become one of my favorites. Stunning views, stunning weather. Make sure to carry a light jacket as it is breezy

My son and I went on 7/3/20. The view was beautiful. I decided to go up to the top along a narrow trail that was not as steep as the other. Nerve-racking, especially since I had my son with me. Anyway down is steep but we took it slow and made it. My son said he won't do it again, if I do...it will just be me and the hubby. Many trail options for those less adventurous.

Excellent trail. Reported as closed but it isn’t. We wanted to go to Julian trail but the roads were closed from where we wanted to go and the detour long. So we parked at the trailhead for coastal trail, hiked up coastal to Marin headlands, hiked down Kirby cove. It was very wide, started around 4pm, very light traffic, and at the end the beach was fantastic. Very few people there so felt safe. The view of GG bridge were great. I would call this easy trail. Worth going.

Really nice hike, didn’t get to finish the whole hike because someone twisted their ankle.
