We end up doing Timberview - Giant Salamander - Methuselah loop.
A little over 6 miles.
Nice well shaded trails all the way.
Beautiful forest, large trail except Giant Salamander.
Downhill on Timberview then all the way uphill back.
Not too bad uphill, about 3 miles total.

Love it!!! just so nature!!!

good to have on hand at a moments notice where ever you are when you a looking for an activity.
also shows if dogs are allowed before you get there so trips aren't wasted.

We did this loop anticlock wise (good choice if you ask me). Some sunny spots coming back (the other half) but not bad at all.

This was a great hike, it’s super shaded so great for sunny days, easy to find too.

Good hike, definitely challenging! We did a side trail not shown to see the sand stone formation, which was worth it - that trail is marked too! We didn’t do the fir trail portion due to being too tired! On the plus side, it was well shaded and the temperature was perfect for starting the hike at 8am

First of all, this is primarily an area with mountain bikes. So this review is for hiking. While most bikers are friendly it’s just not a pleasant experience when 4 guys on bikes are flying down the trail in your direction at 20mph and leave a huge cloud of dust for you to breathe and hike through.

They recorded route is very odd and is through areas with signs that clearly show the route is closed at the start of the hike. Ignore the red route at the start/finish and follow the obvious trail out of the parking lot to meet up with the weird recorded route.

Unlike nearby trails like in purisma there are no coastal views here. Meh.

Great combination of single track with some flow and fast fire roads. Each trail you hit has a slightly different feel. The climb at the end is not fun but it’s ultimately worth it.

Nice moderate trail, almost all in the shade, beautiful redwoods forest. Only downside is there’s heavy bikers traffic, which are coming down fast on the narrow paths.

it's quite easy and a beautiful trail with proper trail paths. it's shaded throughout and has directions for each trail posted at a regular distance.

Very nice, moderate trail. Shaded by redwood trees.
Took 2 hours for the loop including a 15 minute lunch break, met about 15 hikers and 5 bikers.
Parking was easy and plenty.

Very nice and shady hike. Saw several banana slugs and all kinds of birds. Very few people this morning and we got there that at about 10:30am on Sunday. The sandstone deck is a nice photo op. There were some mountain bikers who were quite cautious and respectful. That little portion down to the bottom of Fir trail is awesome. The rest of the hike is easy but sticking with that descent and hike up gives you a great little workout with plenty of time to relax for the remainder of the hike.

A fun trail for mountain biking, but definitely not easy. There's a fun descent and a pretty lengthy climb; a couple of brief patches of boulders.

Great running, hiking or biking trail.

Perfect summer day hike! Shady canopies of redwood made it a pleasant experience despite the almost 100 degree heat !

Beautiful hike. Did this loop counterclockwise on Memorial Day weekend. Not too crowded, as everyone else was up in Purisma Creek. Beautiful fern and redwood filled trails, very shady thus perfect for a sunny day. More mountain bikers than hikers, but there’s plenty of room to let them pass on the trails. Would highly recommend!

Definitely a very nice trail,
probably ideal for hot days because is very well shaded, pretty good balance for ups and downs, not hard, decent.

Great hike. Well shaded. There were more hikers and bikers than would have liked but there were long stretches where no one could be found. A lot of crisscrossing of other trails so make sure you are aware. All in all great hike.

Amazing hike if you go down to the bottom of the fir trail and climb back up. Almost 1000 feet of elevation over 1 Mile. Very challenging without stopping but great for training the lungs. Also the sandstone rock is amazing. I went on a Friday when it was 100 degrees so I had the whole trail to myself. Bring plenty of water as it was the first time I finished my 3 liter bladder right as I was walking to the car. Also the trail head is across the street down 0.1 miles from Skeggs Parking lot.

Solid P'nsula Hike. Easy to find trail head however parking lot fills up. DONT take the spur (more later). Mostly covered - trail in good condition - only one I saw on the trail at 7AM were a ton of mountain bikers - nice guys but some of the trails are really narrow for two. I took the spur that is on the original map - dont do it. Straight down, nothing at the bottom and coming up wasnt easy. Keeping it from a 5 star - no real views

Great hike. Shady most the way. Mountain bikers frequently the back half. What goes down must come up!! :-)

I pleasant enough walk in the forest, and perfect for a casual morning / afternoon hike. I wouldn't recommend taking the southern spur: there was nothing but a dusty trail down there, and walking back up wasn't particularly exciting.

There are many different trails you can take, but each trail is pretty long. However, it is a challenge to hike any trail you choose.. The lower the altitude you get to, the harder it gets to get back up. You definitely feels the burns in your muscles, and you sweat like never before.
Overall, it just a beautiful trail period. The sounds of the trees, the birds, the waterfalls, and the wind it is all very great to enjoy. There are mean old mosquitoes, bug repellent is a must. Take plenty of water. Make you sure you enjoy this hike. Can't wait to go back at it, again!!! I love to enjoy nature.

It's a solid 4, the trails are very popular with mountain bikers so just aware of the cross traffic. The parking is really easy and there's tons of trail signs and posts so you'll never get lost. Enough of a terrain to get a good workout but not too much where it's not impossible.

Stunning. So many trails, all gorgeous. Love love love.

GORGEOUS. This is part of a huge network of trails, and if you take the Fir trail all the way down and continue, you run into a sweet creek and waterfall.
