This trail is my favorite to date! Easy. Nice path. Beautiful water and trees. There is a well maintained picnic area and restrooms. I took some amazing pictures!!!

Definitely a super easy stroll. Beautiful scenery

Great hike. Impossible to get lost. Did the loop (some snow on the descent) and just to add to the fun we walked on top of the snow sheds on the way back.

Nice view of the Donner lake and the mountains... still with some snow caps but perfect weather for a walk.

I go to this trail a few times a year and love it every time. My son and I went up today. It was snowy, but still a great hike with beautiful views. It's one of my favorites.

Great however it is covered in ice now. fell and hit my chin. Be careful!!

Still under snow the entire way, so ty oil longer than expected. Beautiful views. My dog (wee but with huge attitude beagle/terrier/daschund/mini heeler) struggled with the snow at times but mostly because she went off trail. Can't wait to do it again when the wildflowers are out.

Amazing! Super snowy and icy, perfect for snow shoeing and you can do the tunnels if you have yaktrax or poles and are willing to take your time and be okay with a few slips here and there.

The trailhead was a little tough to find-it was not the Judah lot (unless I missed it) as noted. We parked in a lot directly across from Donner Ski Ranch. There was a gate and then a tunnel almost immediately. It was pretty icy and flat. Definitely bring a headlamp and dress warmly. There was snow on the ground and the wind made it pretty cold. I would love to come hike this trail in the spring or summer, but I enjoyed going in winter. There are some beautiful views of Donner lake and some pretty incredible graffiti art.

Fun walk with the kids. Great views, we did not do the loop. Walked in and out

Couldn’t find the trailhead and got my car stuck in the snow with chains on

wonderful views

Easy and pleasant walking trail with some beautiful lake and mountain views. There isn’t much change in elevation, but it’s still a good walking/running trail with ample space to explore along the beach.

Description says no dogs but that is not correct. You can do dogs on leash. Northshore side has a lot of vehicle traffic so can loud and dirty.

Great hike, saw lots of families on the trail. Saw even more dogs. Beautiful view from the overlook.

Went in December and this trail was not fun. Almost the entire tunnel portion was iced over and treacherous.

The views were still amazing though and I would love to go back in the summer.

I love this trail! The graffiti art is spectacular, as is the view

Easy trail, good for kids

I wasn't impressed. Not a nature hike but a stroll around the campground. You start off by the lake on a made trail but only 20min in then you turn in and get lost through the campground taking the road most of the way back cutting through the camp sites . I guess this is good for a tourist walk.

Pretty valley includes a 4 lane highway and some development, but no negroes.

Nice morning run around the lake. I hugged the inside track going counterclockwise. It was nice coming off the road into the Donner park but then tricky getting back on the road. I cut through the Donner Beach Club which is private and fenced in. Next time I'll stay wide of that property and add the extra 0.1 miles or so.

nice walk with kids and the dog. we veered off into the beach area and enjoyed the sunshine. great on nice days, didn't need to do the loop - just enjoyed the out and back along the Lakeshore.

I have mixed feelings about this trail. 50% is walking through dark tunnels. While I thought it was interesting and unique (something I had never done before), it got old pretty quickly. It's dark, and the path is not exactly comfortable (bf and I rolled our ankles a couple times). That being said, the views of the surrounding area are pretty spectacular. Once you reach the end of the tunnels, you walk for a bit on rocky, leveled ground for a bit. Then, you make a right and hike up to the peak. The top was amazing. Beautiful views and a perfect spot to rest/eat. So, just keep in mind you'll be walking in the dark for quite a while (it was about 1.5 hours total for us), but the views up top are amazing!

I actually love hiking around Donner Lake multiple times a year. I'll drive 2 hours to hike it.

Beautiful scenery. Would have logged my trek, however it would have appeared I was chasing a chipmunk. Since Trails were not marked. So I wandered for a bit and then found a good route. Great Lake views 90% of the time. So it's a good place to get lost and enjoy the outdoors
