Steep at the start for about a mile, then easygoing until you hit the final mile of switchbacks. Leave early as there is little to no shade on the trail for big parts of it.

This trail is not closed, I had a wonderful time hiking it today 5/3/20. This hike is 2 miles up with a gradual incline then 2.2 miles down with a gradual decline then 1 mile of gradual incline leading to the switch backs. Here is where you will earn you badge for climbing Telescope. I recorded this trail at 13 miles so the sign is not correct indicating 7 miles one way. Enjoy

Amazing drive. Recommend an all-wheel-drive with new tires. Experienced driver is a must. Titus Canyon is absolutely amazing and beautiful. Enjoy!

Very hot and minimal shade, but worth a short trek--feels like you're on a different continent entirely! We tried using a cardbox to sled down the dunes but didn't make it too far... small and lighter kids might have better luck =)

Did this last year and loved it. It's a flat easy walk and you can go as far as you want, the further you go the thinner the crowds.

Visited in February. Short, easy walk. The views are absolutely breathtaking! I’m from MA and I’d go back to CA just to visit Death Valley again. This was one of my favorites in DV!

We went to Badwater Basin in February. It was a bit of a walk to the open area of salt flats, dress in layers because you’ll want to take a couple off when you get into the desert! Such a beautiful place! We are from MA and I’d go back to CA just to visit Death Valley again.

There is no actual trail you just kinda trek through the dessert brush, so if you have Pro download the trail and it helps tremendously. If you don’t have pro and can’t download the map, you turn down the gravel road at the yellow sign in the valley that says to turn off the air conditioning. You’ll need an SUV or a car with higher ground clearance on the road because there are a few wash out ruts. I didn’t think to track the mileage, but the trail head is roughly 30 minutes down on the left. You’ll see the trail entrance, but after that you just pick the spot on the horizon (middle of the four dunes) and keep that as your horizon point on the hike. On the hike back the parking lot is a little right of the mountain peak, so the peak is a decent horizon point to walk towards. The hike itself is boring, but when you get to the dunes it’s pretty cool. Deceivingly uphill pitch, but you really don’t notice until you look back about 1/2 way through. There was zero wind when we got there and I’m confident it was the quietest place I’ve ever been. Super windy on the way back. First week of April was a great time for the hike, weather was perfect and there were a bunch of flowers in bloom. There was a few groups camping off the gravel road on the way out.

if you want to see the true beauty of the salt flats you MUST walk out past the trodden down part. the difference is incredible. so many people did not want to make the walk and missed out on the natural wonder....it gets way more white and dusted-looking the father you go. definitely a must-see in Death Valley!

We took the scenic view through the titus mountains to get to the trailhead (highly recommend... if you have an offroad vehicle). Weather was perfect and hike is not too difficult (kid friendly). I posted a recording of the entire hike in 4k here for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gx1zd-08Io&t=32s

We wanted to go to Fall Canyon so Google took us this way and it was awesome. Once you get past the washboard road, you start snaking your way up and down through the cayon until you get to Leadfield. We stopped and took a quick look at the mine shaft and abandon buildings. Next is some driving through a dry riverbed until a stop for a couple of petroglyphs. What follows next is the real payoff.... a slot canyon but for trucks... Now, some words of caution.. tire blowouts are real; a Jeep in front of me lost one on the washboard section. There are also several sections of jarring ruts and protruding rocks that you need to look out for. Don’t get going too fast. Highly recommended trail!!

Easily accessible and very interesting. Ther is no actual trail, just park where ever and walk around to anything that looks interesting. Down by the bottle house ther is some written information about the history of the short lived boom town.
