This is a great route for cyclists in the Santa Rosa area to start loop trips in the rural western Sonoma County. It is also a great outing for people wanting to spend the day in Sebastopol. The trail is a paved Class I bike route. The further out of Santa Rosa you go, the more scenic the trail gets. Through the Laguna de Santa Rosa and on the outskirts of Sebastopol, the trail is the prettiest.
Great trail for bike riding. I like it because of how it is sectioned. You can choose to do different parts of the trail if the whole length is too long. The scenery is different depending on which part of the trail you choose. The section that is my favorite is from Sebastopol to Graton. Beautiful scenery, easy to moderate riding level.
Alex T. on Joe Rodota Trail
I love this trail, due to the fact that I am constantly going back and forth from Sebastopol to Santa Rosa. This trail is FLAT, and has some connecting issues because you have to cross some streets every now and then, follow the signs they will not lead you astray. The Sebastopol side of this trail is lush in vegetation because your heading into the heart of The Laguna, the giant swamp that separates Santa Rosa and Sebastopol, while the Santa Rosa side is more of a grassy plains terrain, but the entire path is paved so you'll have no trouble navigating this trail.
