The beautiful capital park is full of lush greenery, protests, memorials, and people enjoying the fresh air on their lunch breaks. Dog friendly

Nice stroll with memorials! If Jade can do it so can you!

We bring all of our visitors to the Capitol and walk ourselves often. Lovely spot to visit! You can tour the Capitol building for free as well.

Lovely walk or run with trees of every type in California and a rose garden.

Not a hike, but a nice small stroll.

Wandered all around the capitol during governor's inauguration. If you have the time, I'd also recommend stopping over to the Leland Stanford Mansion for a free tour.

Great beginner run.

Loved seeing so many favorite trees all labeled for us. We also wandered into the Capitol to explore. It was in the low 90’s outside. It was delightful to cool off inside while we enjoyed museum displays as well as the rotunda.

My everyday lunch walk. Always beautiful.

Cool view of the Capital and Downtown.

This is a good park to visit if you are already in the area, but it’s not the kind of place that you would seek out otherwise. First of all, the trail is both short and paved. It pretty much is a giant rectangle that goes along the perimeter of Capitol Park. If you live in the area, I think this would be a good place to practice a 5K in the early morning before people start coming to work at the nearby office buildings. It gets very busy over the lunch hour, so while you could still walk then, you will have to dodge lots of people if you want to practice running during that time. Overall, a nice place for a walk, but nothing to seek out for people outside of the immediate area.

Love love love

Scenic trail, but littered with state workers during the weekday.

Capitol Park is a 1.10 mile loop trail around the state Capitol. Mostly concrete some places to run on grass, dirt but mostly sidewalk concrete. Best time to run early morning or late evenings weekdays (Work Walkers midday gets crowded). Weekends are good all day. Cool stuff in park including a Giant Sequoia, Vietnam War Memorial, and rose garden.

California has one of the best state capitol campuses I have ever seen

1/7/16 - 2 loops plus to/from fleet feet = 4 miles

Enjoyed looking at all the trees. The trees are marked making them easy to identify. We enjoyed a leisure walk among the paved and shaded trail/path. Also there are many art works and statues scattered throughout the park. No biking or skating/boarding allowed.

The Trail of Trees is phenomenal! Many of the trees at Capitol Park are the largest of their kind in the area. A Must see if you love trees.

This is a basically a stroll through the park on paved trails. Many exotic trees, donated to the State of California by various governments, line the paths around the park. It is a very nice walk, in conjunction with a tour of the State Capitol Building.
