2/3 fire road but very pretty and easy. Almost no lake view but that is ok cause the meadow at the 1/2 way mark is worth the hike.

Easy AND fun! The singletrack sections are lovely - Didn’t hit any particularly technical terrain, and the climbs/descents are mild. Lots of room to include many other short trail options along the way.

My friends and I hiked this on Sunday and enjoyed it as a relatively easy hike with good footing at the end of a long weekend. There were many choices of trails at intersections. Although most intersections now have maps, we were glad that we had downloaded the AllTrails map to stay on our desired route! There were quite a few mountain bikers but the trail is wide enough in most areas for passing without getting off the trail.

Nice trail 98% of the way but watch out for the loop as the trail stops and you have to cross a creek. It’s September now but I can imagine that creek getting wider during winter and spring.

One of the best trails and views of Lake Tahoe, it's fairly easy but be prepared for steep hike and the reward is at the top. After take a break and rest to take in the views. Good chance to see different butterflies, birds but beware of these black ants.

Excellent hike! Views are amazing! Definitely going to do again. AND! There’s a butterfly migration happening and they are everywhere! So cute

A few peekaboo views but otherwise this is a boring hike. Shaded and not crowded the only perks.

Very quiet and peaceful. Well marked and maintained. Lots of shady areas, great for dogs.

I’m a 53 year old novice hiker and found this trail on the app which I highly recommend. Wasn’t too hard but I was pushed in some sections. I’m not a small guy being 6’ 5” and 265. Trails at 1st were challenging but once up top nice trails with plenty of options. All the trails were well marked and easy to navigate even if you wanted to venture off like I did. Went here twice this week and opted to go off trail a bit and hit the Lakeview Trail w/ scenic lookout the second time. Totally enjoyed it and being able to sit on a bench over looking the lake slamming water was awesome. I was challenged on the up hill parts at the beginning and scenic over look but was definitely doable. Plenty of other hikers around with dogs which I thought was cool. Seemed like a great mountain biking area. Definitely recommend.

Beautiful hike! a little bit of everything. Took a slightly shorter route at the end because the kids were tired, but I wish we could have done more!

Good trail, and definitely moderate-easy - relatively flat (except for the first 1/2 mile) and well marked. Recommend taking a small detour on out-and-back to Lakeview trail for more breathtaking panoramic views of the lake.

Wonderful! We cut a part of the trail off. The top section was the standout.

We enjoyed the wonderful wooded trail. There are scattered wildflowers even in early July. We startled a black bear twice and believe me he startled us the second times....only 25 feet away. Luckily, he high-tailed it to the other side of the trail. Nice solid trail, watch the rocks and loose soil on the inclines.

Beautiful little ride through the woods. Either direction you end with some fast downhill. Mostly fire road. Some nice views of the lake. Good for anyone who rides frequently.

Very accessible mountain peak in comparison to the others I’ve done lately. You take a forest road must of the way there. Beautiful drive and doable for any car. The hike it’s self is short and pleasant. The trail doesn’t go all the way to the peak so if that’s something you wanna do you have to blaze a trail over. Awesome views at the top and great place to read! Enjoy

A great trail that's pretty flat once you get past the initial uphills. It is well maintained and has great markers frequently. The twelfth marker is missing its map though. Completed on 6/20, and the snow has melted but there are still wild flowers! This trail is away from the crowds; I went hiking from around 1 to 4 and only saw a solo hiker and one group of 6 people.

Great trail. There is a somewhat steeper grade at first.-we started left. Trail is wide enough for a vehicle, at first we took all right turns. At number five we went left to go up and back. At number 26 we stayed left. We went up the elevation at number 25. You can see our recording of this 1.1 mile area we traveled off the main map. It only took 29 minutes. Steeper grade just at first but extremely doable - just a little slow going-if bikes are coming down definitely move over for them.. it only took us a half an hour to divert off the trail for this beautiful scene. Beautiful scenic area at the top. Went back down to number 29 and continued following the map as seen on AllTrails. Getting to the trail head was a bit confusing. You turn off of N. Lake Blvd. directly across from star Harbor. There is a sign that says Tamarack Lodge and a yellow sign that points towards the Lodge. Take the left route it goes back to the beginning of the trail head. We did not mountain bike here but there were several bikers who looked to be having fun also.

Awesome! Snowy in areas, but lower regions are clear. The river is FLOWING!

Great hike on Memorial Day weekend. Didn’t see any other hikers. Creeks were running, but the bridges were all in good shape and the paths were clear. Ran into snow around 6700’ and were hiking on snow for about 1.5 miles at and just above that elevation. In total, about 30-40% of the trail was covered.
