Drop dead gorgeous in spring when the hills are green! Great views, good workout even for those in shape. I’ve hiked many times with little traffic. There’s a few other trails to give lots of variety to the scenery. Do this hike now!

Nice stroll , cows , decent incline for a light sweat and brisk jog ..... a short & sweet loop

Can I just say this is a hidden gem for mtn biking? The climb is challenging (then again I hate climbing), but even I can climb with 2 stops in between. Not that grueling... I just climb in granny gear for the most part. But the decent, although short, is the super super fun part. If you like smashing rocks, then you will love Brushy Peak.

Great for moderate hikers., not too strenuous. Takes good 2 & half hours to complete this Trail. I like to do anti-clock wise loop, since it has a steady up hill terrain.

A good trail I like because it’s close to home and sparsely populated.

This loop is pretty steep. Definitely check the elevation graph and topographic map to see if it’s an appropriate difficulty for your group. Beautiful views at the highest elevation and the little lake is very serene. Fairly challenging hike for us but experienced hikers may find it to be easier than we did.

We absolutely love hiking the Brushy Peak Trails. One of our favorite trails in the bay area. This trail is considered moderate but I'm thinking maybe moderate hard? I feel like this trail was a little harder than the trail we hiked a few weeks ago that was rated hard. The hike starts with an incline once you get through the gate. Uphill you go lol We started at 8am which is late for us but the gates do not open til 8am. It's a good thing it was not too hot today or we would have been miserable. There is no shade so bring plenty of water. It took us a little over 2 hours to finish the hike...not bad considering we stopped a few times to take pictures. The hillside was brown due to the season...come winter this place will be lush and green ....absolutely beautiful. We don't normally like to hike the same trails more than once but we will definitely hike this trail again.

Beautiful ridge hiking! We went on an extremely windy day. It is full sun and dog friendly on leash. Grab a beer at Hop de Vine nearby after as a post hike reward!

Bring plenty of water, look at the map to know how challenging each trail can get, some are steeper than others. Good 2 hour hike moderately traveled.

Such a cool trail! Definitely going back!!

This was a well groomed trail, with some great narrows of rocks and hills. Full sun, however there are small groves offering shade at reasonable distances. Not a hard trail, but you can push and make it one if you choose! Saw a couple mountain bikers, and a park ranger. Otherwise pretty much had it to myself, 4-5:30 on a weekday.

Mostly a great trail, steep enough to feel like a workout, with great views and wildlife. For summer, an early start is best, as there is only a little shade.

it is well groomed, but not a lot to see. only good if you are local and and want to get out.

We came on a warm day and the hills kicked my butt! Wonderful views, and very lightly trafficked. There are a lot of cows and some of them wander onto the path - we just kept our distance. I would say moderate is accurate. Definitely recommend this hike!

I'm not sure where I went wrong, but my trip recorded as almost 8 miles.

Great views. Ponds. Cattle. Squirrels. Flowers. Other hikers. Dogs. Rocks and amazing trees. Cattle may seem intimidating but just keep walking, they are used to us ;) Great meditation spot on one of the rocks.

Definitely the best way to get any elevation change on these trails. As usual, better than setting on the couch.

It’s a trail, something to do before breakfast. Don’t drive more than 20 miles to get here. If you are close do it. Much much better when the hills are green.

This was a really nice hike. a couple of inclines but not bad. Beautiful scenery. You'll want to start early to beat the heat since it's starting to warm up a bit now. Took our kids and they loved it!

As most people have said, start early. I started at 0745 on a Friday morning. I was the only one in the lot and started in the fog and 48 degrees but that did not last. By the time I was back to the lot at 0930 there where 16 cars in it and the sun was in full effect. The temp had risen to 60 degrees which sounds cool but with the sun and a decent pace you will be sweating. I suggest starting the trail through the gate near the house so you are not staring at the sun on your accent. Yeah there are cows but they all appear to be vegetarians.

It is still a little muddy out but very green and beautiful. LOTS of cows in various locations throughout the loop but no problems with them. Try it you’ll like it!!!
