Briones was my playground for a decade and I've done every inch more times than I care to admit. I was the guy you saw who always had 2 or 3 Golden Retrievers with me for a decade.

Nice views & a good moderate length hike. Part shaded/woodland & part grassland. Parking was available at the trailhead. We’ll be back!

Awesome, trails all over with hills and great views of the delta/Mt Diablo.

Nice trail. Much of it is shaded. Dog friendly. Not terribly challenging, but enough hills to make it enjoyable.

Challenging hike with quite a few long, steep sections, nice views and a good deal of shade even midday

The real good part only comes after reaching Briones Road, where it is open air and you get to take in the views of the rolling hills. Briones Peak was a tad disappointing though as my view was blocked by trees or maybe I’m doing something wrong. For a better view, take a right turn onto Briones Crest Trail, pass the two lakes onto Mott Peak Trail where you’d reach Mott Peak. There isn’t any resting bench there but views are so much better.

Great hike, close to home for me.

This trail can get really muddy in the winter... The 1st time I did it was with my wife and 5 Golden Retreivers. Two women Rangers rode their horses through as we leashed up the dogs and stood off trail to let them by. We stayed there for about 10 minutes before we unleashed the dogs and unfortunately they took off to see the horses close up!!!! The Rangers started screaming and we got the dogs without any harm being done other than 2 angry Rangers. Hiked there at least 200 times and it was the only time I saw Rangers on horseback... There is also a nice little pond that my dogs always enjoyed.

My main go to for 15 years. I've done every foot of Briones over and over with or without many of my Golden Retreivers. I

Steep incline, but the view from the top makes the trip well with the pain to get there.

Really nice loop of the Briones; best done when the hills are relatively green, though a very pleasant hike as long as it is not too hot (as it is very exposed). Much of the loop is on dirt roads/fire trails, but good views and some nice lagoons.

Awesome hike. We parked at Alhambra Creek Staging area. The parking fee is $3 and there is an extra fee for dogs of $2 per dog (we weren't charged the dog fee due to the small size of our dogs. They are both around 5 pounds.). The trails are well marked and easy to navigate. We had our two small dogs with us and they did great. There are a few different trail options you can take, so your hike can be extended quite a bit. The sections we took had some nice, moderate hill climbs and down grades, and a small part where there was some water on the trail. Most of the trail was open with no shade, but there are a few shady sections at the beginning and towards the end. Really nice views of the valley on the upper sections.

Great in the afternoon because you'll be in the shade. It's about 5 miles round-trip and takes me about 1 1/2 hours.

Beautiful setting but the trails are not clearly marked causing lots of confusion.

Excellent trail!! Lots of cows the Briones crest gate trail was locked (towards table top trail) is that a private trail?? Or I didn't know how to open the gate?? Lol either way I took the trail to diablo trail and it was beautiful!! Recommended!!

If you want to feel like in your in Ireland than take a stop here. Amazing.

The beginning was intense, especially since I carried my 1 year old on my back, but so worth the view at the top. Next time I'll try the loop and add a little more distance to the hike.

My old dogs would miss Briones. For several years i hiked it for as much as 3 times a week and this one was a little closer to home. I miss hiking there as well.

A nice trail on the other side of Briones with some nice hills and views. There seems to be more deer and a lot of turkeys on the south side. A pretty good cardio hike with all the ups and downs.

Nice trail but I looped it with Lafayette and Buckeye... No need to do out and back.

Hill is kind of steep at the beginning, but it levels out a little as you get closer to the top. I wouldn't go so far as to say this trail is for advanced hikers only, but I wouldn't do it on a hot day. Took me an hour to complete, but I spend a fair amount of time taking pictures, and learning how to use some new equipment.
