Beautiful trees changing color for fall and the smell of eucalyptus simply can’t be beat.

One of my favorite hikes. It starts out relatively easy and then you have a steep climb upwards. The only issue I had was combing back down with the loop, it was much more difficult than I had anticipated. Steep climb down and lots of loose dirt and gravel. We ran into another company who was equally having troubles moving down the trail. Beside that, the views and trails were beautiful.

I loved this trail! Difficult for the first mile because it is straight incline, but the rest is very doable. Mostly wooded with some areas of no shade. Pretty views and beautiful redwoods

As another reviewer mentioned, the first part of this trail is really steep and probably more moderate level.

Please note that the street plan given in the app is completely wrong. Madrone ave connects to Magnolia ave north of Piedmont and is the most direct access route to the falls trail. This caused me no end of confusion. As for the access indications given in the description (left on Foley, stairs after the third house etc. )...I never found the stairs! Hence plan B, the trailhead at the end of Madrone. But I had to park a half-mile from there.

Steep ass hill on the way up

Very beautiful hike, fresh air, smells amazing, redwoods. View of the bay at the top. There is section at the end which is very slippery when going down.

great trail for the dogs.

When you drive here it is a tiny road in a really nice neighborhood, use the All Trails directions and drive all the way to the dead end. There are a few parking spaces in the neighborhood. No bathrooms. I went counter clockwise with all the uphill done at the beginning, then flat. Lots of options for more hiking.

There’s one downhill portion at the end of the loop part that was slippery/steep. Having proper hiking shoes with traction is helpful. A few fallen trees that you had to maneuver around as well. Overall very enjoyable with a lovely shade covering.

There is very limited parking at the beginning of this trail, and the trail head is a little difficult to spot. I was distracted by the dumped car, missed the trail head and continued happily down the fire road until we reconnected with the trail. Great views, and interesting variations in landscape.

Beautiful area and trail. Great trail for dogs. Plenty of shade. Plenty of people but not overcrowded on a Saturday.

We're typically in search of waterfalls. This one puts you at the top of a slippery waterfall and of you're not careful, you will fall to your death. I'm not joking! My 12 year old almost died. Super dangerous!!! The rest of the hike leading up to it was beautiful.

This is a pretty hike with some magical views; however, it is not easy as classified. There are some very steep scrabbly sections that require a level of fitness to ascend and much care to descend.

Gorgeous! A ton of shade which is great for summer hikes. There was almost no water left by this time, but still totally worth the drive to Marin. didn't bring the dogs but I would bring mine back. The trail can get narrow and steep at times so consider that before bringing pups in the heat.

Parking is very confusing. The hike itself is magnificent. Part sun and part shade and moderate up and downs.

Love this trail!! Perfect for a no shade hike, just be careful with dogs because it’s narrow.

Pretty easy hike, although the decline was a little hard to do with a dog on a leash since it got pretty steep. All around really nice though and perfect if you’re looking for something under two hours that isn’t too difficult. Watch out for poison oak though.

Great trail, the hard part isn’t until the end, so you can choose to do the incline with the switchbacks or not. Moderately trafficked, so you’ll definitely see other people, but you’ll be alone most times. Beautiful redwoods with lots of shade.

Absolutely loved this trail. Most of the hike takes place on a comfortable and wide paved fire road. There many so many beautiful different kinds of trees and wildflowers combined with a creek blanketed in ferns. Had a wonderful time watching the earth move around as a little creature - that I never actually saw - tunneled under the underbrush, audibly breaking roots apart while unearthing worms and beetles in the process. During the first part of the hike before getting to the loop I was lost daydreaming of living in this beautiful area while admiring the houses on the other side of the creek bed. This hike surprised me and had my heart working overtime as it suddenly went straight up a nice and closely pathed switchback. It was very challenging for me, though admittedly I’m not as active or fit as most who do these parts of the hike. Of course what goes up must come down, straight down in fact, a rocky-root filled decline where I tripped and slid and despite my slow and careful best efforts, I fell three times. Being prepared with hiking shoes and poles probably would’ve prevented this. I would recommend starting off the beginning of the loop by walking up the part that I haphazardly went down as climbing it would’ve been easier. All of my joints and muscles were used on this hike! Also, my recording logged 6 miles rather than the stated 4.2. *Lots of happy unleashed dogs, so beware if you don’t like that or have a reactive dog.
