this trail is a good shaded walk, however the noise from the nearby road is constant.

Straightforward hike through the trees. The falls is blocked off and not accessible which was disappointing. Most hike a semi-private road back, trying to keep the trail one-way.

The trail is well maintained and any fallen trees seem to be promptly chopped and redirected off the trail. It’s very well marked and easy to follow from the parking lot or connecting trails. We saw a ton of banana slugs and species of birds. Big Basin State Park has become very highly trafficked and it’s difficult to maintain social distance or get parking on weekends. This is great for the funding of this gorgeous state park, but be sure to come early!

Went clockwise as other reviews suggested. First half has most of the elevation changes and parts where you’re hiking on rock ledge. Not many vista points but the entire 4 hours on trail we didn’t see anyone else. No dedicated parking lot but decent amount of parking a little past the trailhead on the sides

very disappointed by this trail. it mostly follows the road, at least close enough that you can hear the cars go by. and there are no view points. it does go by the waterfall (closed due to COVID right now) and you go past some huge redwood groves.

We hiked from Big Basin Redwood State Park headquarter to Waddell Beach, it took us 5 hours, the first was a little rough, after Berry Creek waterfall, the road is all flat, very pleasant trip.

Great trail for learning about the redwoods. The brochures were super informative and nicer than having obtrusive signs at every turn marking important trees. Got engaged on this little trail!

Easy informative trail close to the parking lot. Can do this one with kids, or at the end of a longer trail to end the day.

HikingGreat!Over grownRocky

Parked in dirt turnoff on China Grade Rd about 1/10 mile NW of Skyline-to-Sea Trail. Good hike, with varied vegetation and terrain. Everything from chaparral on sandstone to oak/tan oak forest to deep redwood forest was available, sometimes in that order. Lots of leaves on parts of the trail made for some slippery travel, but overall it was good hiking. Some of the chaparral parts of the trail are verging on overgrown, and there's a bit of poison oak in various parts of the non-redwood parts of the trail.

Great trail with a waterfall reward at the end. You can't get in the waterfall, which was the only bummer. I'd love to come back and spend a full day hiking in Big Basin!

Nicely shaded trail. Goes by Sempervierin Falls, and Slippery Rock, and then loops around the mountain back to the starting place. We went mid day Saturday, won’t go back on a Saturday! Too crazy crowded. I knew better! But nice hike.

Decent trail with lots of shade. We reached by 12.30 and it was very crowded - go early! Also, make sure you follow the One- Way policy - especially given the current Covid situation.

A nice shaded easy trail. About 5.5 miles. Sempervirens falls is closed due to COVID and there's a ranger posted to make sure nobody goes down to the falls. We also did the redwood loop which is a short detour on the trail

Easy trail if you are looking to get into hiking. From the parking lot and back it was roughly 5 miles. During your hike you can see the road off to the right so it isn’t too far into the woods. The actual waterfall was “closed off” but EVERYONE ignored the sign and got a closer look. I highly encourage you go close to touch the water!

This was definitely a good hike! I went clockwise. However, we didn't get to go to the Ocean View Summit because we weren't sure how far up we had to go from the trail. Now we know for next time if we take this same trail, we can go up and it won't be too far. It wasn't that bad of a hike and went by faster than I expected.

We went clockwise to finish the ascent already in the first part of the route and that was a good choice because as long as we had energy, we arrived at a place with big rocks, which was a great attraction for kids who like to do climbing, then there was a section that is mostly forest and those who like to walk in the forest And to breathe its air and see trees in their different form and majestic power, will probably find much interest in it. The second section of the route is calmer and excellent as it is precisely in this section that you will find an amazing vantage point located on the rocks rounded in all shapes (you have to climb there) and then you can choose one of the rocks that you can lean on, open the bag with the meal and enjoy the lovely and peaceful view . It's like a ship at the heart of the sea (if timed right, you can meet the sunset from this place). We spent a lot of hours expecting this with the kids who didn't really want to go because they had a lot of interest and adults we had a time together. This trail is worth 5 stars for me. Personal KPI's (they are my subjective only, for your consideration :-)): 1. Garbage collected along the trail - 0.3 bag :-), [1 bag = 1 gallon, UCL: 1, UDL: 2, Target: 0] 2. Maintenance Level - High, some areas need bushes and trees trimming (High - Very good condition, Medium - Some small issues, but overall good condition, Low - Major issues that needs improvement)

Great hike that is generally very shaded. Be sure to arrive early to avoid the crowds and be sure to bring bug spray! The hike itself is about 5 miles and not very strenuous. Just to note, Smpervirens Falls is closed due to COVID, but the remaining trail is beautiful, covered with thick ferns and countless old-growth redwood trees.

Beautiful destination. Easy trail for kids. Park very empty during COVID so we walked back along the street. The Falls is everything.

Loved this. Went counter clockwise. Think the other way would be pretty too but less of a challenge, maybe? Saw banana slugs, squirrels, lizards, and lots of birds.

Easy hike to Sempervirens Falls, portion of the trail is next to a road where you can hear traffic drive by. The Sempervirens Falls themselves is more impressive on photo than in person.
