Nice hike. Went from East to West so uphill was more intense, but the path is nice and the view from the top is brilliant. A camera doesn't do the redwoods along the way justice.

Great little hike with my kiddos this afternoon. Made it to the falls and back in about 2.5 hours. It can be done faster, we just stop a lot and explore and take photos along the way.

Short and accessible. Uncrowded compared to the others, beautiful groves and creeks.

Super crowded, right next to the road.

Good trail to do with kids. We got to the falls, took Shadowtrail back down right into our camp, so maybe 4 miles total. Very do-able if you’ve got little ones.

Nice easy trail - as evidenced by many families there on the weekends. Takes about an hour and change to make it up to the waterfall from the HQ. The waterfall isn’t that great but a nice marker to hike up to and take a light breather. It’s a nice day hike to try out in the Santa Clara / Cruz area.

I’d rate it around 3.5 but will round up for family-friendliness and decent parking availability for all.

This a great hike with just enough elevation to give you a great workout. It isn’t super crowded so you’ll find yourself pretty alone most of the hike if you start off early enough. Pretty shady and simply beautiful

Trail too close to the road. You spend a lot of time watching your footing due to all the roots, etc., so be sure to stop once in a while to look up at the fabulous trees! Saw several gray squirrels and a deer VERY close to the parking lot!

Nice trees. Bring along a map as the trail options are many. No cell coverage on the trail (which is a good thing!)

Go early by 8 or 9 to have the trail to yourself. We hiked all the way to the waterfall without seeing anyone and had the view on the lookout point to ourselves. Started to see a lot more hikers on our way back.

Started at HQ. easy walk to the Sempervirens Falls. From there we took the Sequoia Trail up the hill and across the 236 to skyline to sea. That was much prettier

Yes it runs next to a road. But as with most trails in a very busy Big Basin Park? If you want less people and/or cars? Early bird gets the worm :). I made this short little hike on a Monday morning at 8 am and I got to enjoy the falls and only saw one other person in the hour I was there. I was already back to my car at 11 am and planning my next trail as I noticed the crowds and car noise finally beginning to build

Large portion of the trail runs alongside the road which takes the serenity out of the hike whenever a car drives by. The second half after passing Shadowbrook trail was much better with road noise. Overall the hike was pleasant, and relaxing. Small detour to see the falls. I would rate this as an easy hike.

Good workout! gains elevation at reasonable pace. Trail is pretty shady. No shade at the top. We hiked in March so was not that hot when we reached the top. Views are amazing once you get to the top.
Signs along the trail are not so clear, we got the trail info from info desk before starting. I have read reviews that if we get lost, it adds up few miles to your hike.
Did not see lot of people while on trail, not so crowded. Some parts of the trail are narrow but just walk carefully, its totally doable. Couple of big rocks which come in your way and you have to climb and get to the other side to continue. Loved the trail and will come back!

Probably closer to a 3.5. Nice hike for kids or someone just starting out hiking. Depends when you hit the trail. Going out very busy & some car noise from the road that runs next to the trail. Coming back however was much quieter so you could enjoy the Redwoods. Lots of places to stop and grab lunch

Really Nice hike - as always long and winding road to get there. Plenty of parking if you get there early (8am). Didn't see anyone the Skyline to the Sea trail & very peaceful. I went past meteor to add some miles. Middle ridge was a little disappointing - little busier and not much to see. Trail in good condition

Excellent warm up trail before embarking on some of the other trails at Big Basin. This is where you take all of your pictures with the huge old growth redwoods.

Nice easy trail with mellow elevation change. It took us 3 hours at a stroll. The waterfall halfway through is a nice snack break with a view. Highly recommended as an intro trail to Big Basin.

Not too steep, tranquil, narrow road, connected to nice Middle Ridge Road

Sequoia Trail, Northern Escape Road, Redwood Trail totalling 6 miles. Trail map and signage could be better. Otherwise, we were awed to be among such beauty. Recommend for 7 and up.

Easy to follow the trail with visible signs. The complete loop is more about 4.5 miles.

It was a good work out trail and took us about 2hours and half on slow pace with my 9years old son. At the top, the view was so beautiful, absolutely worth to try this trail. We passed a couple of groups.

Decent one

Made a trip up to Big Basin after spending a night in Santa Cruz. Was a quick stop and this was the perfect trail to get out of the car and experience some beautiful Redwoods

Beautiful redwood trees and groves throughout the trail. Very easy except for one small section where elevation gains and gets your heart pumping (assuming you start at the designated trail head). Waterfall was quite small. Saw one giant redwood tree which was fantastic. We hiked just before sunset so it was quite cool and fully shaded.
