Easy trail .. Kid friendly park

Great trail for a morning run. Minimally technical terrain with only a few rocky spots and one narrow section allow for opening up a stride on the descent. The only downside is that the minimal shade makes it get hot quickly. Run the big loop to the summit clockwise (straight at junction) for a gentler downhill or counterclockwise (right at junction) for a steeper downhill but gentler uphill.

I never used to hike before after coming here I'm addicted! If you like nature up close and personal this is it.

Love this hike, but the trail has been closed for construction :(

Made it up to Sierra Vista point, very good hike just make sure to start early if the day will be hot as there's little shade.

a fav on a cool morn!

A Nice Hike to go to on even on a hot day. North Rim trail was closed so took the switchback trail to south rim trail. Wasn't too disappointed though. The switchback is a pretty good workout in itself. The park as such is a really good place to plan a group picnic. A lot of Picnic spots and tables with nets for some outdoor shuttle or some volleyball. Loads of trails and biking routes. Many alternatives to lengthen the trek. Definitely looking forward to coming again and doing another trail

Good tree cover. Fun hike!

Good hike. It was nice hearing the creek through the trail. Half of the trail is shaded. Finished the trail in one in half hours. Even with the app, the trail was a little hard to follow.

Loved this trail! All the tree coverage made it a very pleasant hike on a hot day, and the scent of wildflowers and herbs along the way was intoxicating :) Can’t wait to go back!

Nice views and many different bird species to admire. Also nice creek you can walk along

Love this trail although closed passed the switchback

Great views of the Valley as you go up. Not too much shade so better to do this when it’s not so hot and not in mid afternoon like me, Oy! Enjoyed it though, heat and all!

The ascend was beautiful, shady and calm. Lovely hike for mornings. Park has two free parking lots and you get a spot if you are inside by 10.30am. You will have to walk a mile from the parking lot to reach the trail head.

A great walk on a warm day, lots of shade and plenty to see

People complaining about to this park, just a bunch of whiners. There's no resaon to post review as a 3 *** or 2 park. This is an AMAZING place to hang around with family and friends. Live to the fullest people!

Pleasant shady hike. Nice to be by the creek and then get some elevation after the switchbacks and see a great view of San Jose.

It’s a nice trail especially If you are not used to do a lot. It’s considered as moderate but l would say it’s an easy to light moderate trail. Great for families with kids who want to do more than just a walk. Nice view on the valley, 75% of the trail is under the trees canopy. You will love it during summertime .

NIce views towards the top. Steep enough to make you feel like you hiked. Don't like all the people or cars at the parking area. Just a bit too busy for me.

The lower parking lot was full, so I opted to drive back down to the neighborhood below. There is an upper parking lot that could work fine for a shorter hike.

The first half of the hike was a bit busy. It winds through little parks where people were having BBQ’s. I’ll probably come back and take advantage of that space, but it’s not like a quiet nature hike.

The second half along the upper rim trail was lovely. Not many people, and it hooked up along a ridge so you got some lovely views, including a view of the San Jose Valley.

I went in May and everything was blooming and beautiful.

Some of the signage could have been more clear. Ended up going a longer route and back tracking once or twice.

The trail map is wrong

Take the Penitencia Trail first and hook up to this trail up to Eagle Rock. There are beautiful meadows of mustard flowers carpeting the hills in Spring.

This is a stroller friendly stroll alongside a pretty shaded creek.
