Nice trail, well marked.

Nice hike. Not marked well. Several trees on trail and some that are hanging that needs to be removed. Beautiful views

Nice paved trail with interpretative signs along the way. There are also several benches for resting. There is an old homestead site halfway down, with a cellar, cistern, and stone well. The well is capped with a metal grate, but the cistern and cellar are open (though not terribly deep), with a simple chicken wire fence. Keep a hand on your younger wanderers there. Otherwise, it's a nice refreshing walk, especially if you've been driving the Talimena. If you'd like something a wee bit more challenging, the Settler's Trail branches off of this one.

Great trail for kids. We lived in Mena and hiked this trail many times. It connects to Orchard Loop. Easy hike if you stay on the loop at the top of the ridge, moderate if you choose to hike down to the creek. There are no large rockfalls or boulders to climb over on either loop. It's hard to tell the two trails apart when you're there, so bring a map if you're wanting to stay on the easy path. In the spring and summer, there is a gorgeous emerald green, mossy path in the creek bottoms. There are also lots of examples of various, brightly-colored fungi. Heavy tree cover keeps it relatively cool, even in the summer. Check out the visitor center. They have a nice selection of books available for a donation.

Peaceful, yet unremarkable stroll through the woods over one of the lower sections of Rich Mountain. The real highlight of the day was driving the Talimena Scenic Byway on the Oklahoma-Arkansas border. Spectacular views of the Ouachita Mountains! Be sure to enjoy that fresh mountain air.

Absolutely love this trail. I can’t wait to finish it.

I gave this trail a 4 star rating. The trail itself is not very well marked and also not very well maintained but it's still a beautiful hike. I would also say it's a fairly easy hike with the exception of a few stretches that will get your heart-rate going.

We started at 830 am the morning after a light rain. We would suggest long pants and a walking stick to catch the spider and worm webs. Crickets and a few song birds made the trail pass quickly.

A nice walk through the woods.

This was a lovely little trail especially for kids. We did it after we did a longer trail at Queen Wilhelmena State Park. There are stands along the way that tell you what leaf is from a specific tree close by. That part was very educational. It's paved so that makes it even easier if you have a little one who isn't the most coordinated. It's a loop that starts and ends in the parking lot of the Ouachita National Forest information center. There are a few additional stands with information about the areas history. It's was lovely, very easy, and short!

This is a nice trail for the kids but not a whole lot to see. It's very well maintained, and easy to walk, but is more of a nature trail than a hiking trail. There is a small pond about halfway through and plenty of wildlife.

This one had some nice views and wasn't too tough.

It has some absolutely breathtaking views. The Oklahoma part has great turn-ins with interesting facts about the history of the area. There is a great nature center about halfway through with a 2-hour nature trail which is only about a 1/2 mile long. The are two campgrounds, one nestled in the trees and the one with amenities, such as showers, playgrounds, etc. The Arkansas part has more graffiti and no historical information at the turn-ins.

This trail was fantastic! besides having a few highway crossings it was absolutely beautiful. The trail is extremely rocky and in some areas extremely rooty so be sure that you aren't prone to twisted ankles, and if you are have good footwear. If you're on a bicycle, which my boyfriend was, you may prefer a dual suspension. The trail drops into a gorge then climbs out and drops into another gorge with a gorgeous creek crossing, there is some moss growing on the trail near the creek. Once you make your way out of the creek bed you traverse on the mountain side and during the spring there are some area where the trees thing enough to offer spectacular views! Know that this trail connects with the Rich Mountain trail which is marked with yellow instead of white, its a wise idea not to take that trail unless you intend to add several miles to you adventure.

Fun summer motorcycle ride!

A great drive with beautiful scenery. This is an October must as the leaves are beginning to change. It's a scenic byway so it's not a time saver. Meant to drive and look outside----not make time. That in mind. There are plenty places to stop and take it all in.

Close to hiking opportunities, biking, and hotels. This place is great.

This trail had some great photo opportunities for autumn photos. Ultimately it was a rather plain hike. It was It wasn't too strenuous for the most part, but there were a couple steep portions. One major downside is that completing the trail requires crossing Highway 88 on foot (with no crosswalk or pedestrian warning) at two separate points.

This was our first trail trek this season. I LOVE it!! We hike it 2 sometimes 3 times a week. We've also got our time down to 28 minutes to finish!!
With this trail you don't only get a great workout but beautiful views. There is also a great up hill and down hill variance.
Highly recommended

Orchard trail is a nice informational trail with history of the area. It is ideal for kids or those wheel chair bound as it is paved and mostly level. Good place to stretch your legs.

Earthquake ridge trail is a combination of 4 shorter trails that can be taken all together to get you the six miles or can be taken seperately to give you shorter and/or less challenging routes.

Incredible views as you travel east to west or vice versa. Infact, it was so breath taking, we turned around and drove back the other direction. Views you only expect in the Rockies. A great choice for the fall when the leaves are turning. We also took a small hiking trail that looped along the highway. You could spend a day here without any trouble. Fuel up first, no services.
