The only National Park in an urban area, this smallest National Park is based around the natural hot springs that have been managed for public use. Bathhouse Row preserves 47 of these with many beneficial minerals.

To make this a longer hike like the one I recorded--take Goat Rock then head up the mountain at Gulpha Gorge. Jump on Hit Springs Mountain Trail for a bit then Upper Dogwood, Lower Dogwood, Goat Rock, then back to parking. Nice easy, 4ish mile hike.

5 stars but no goats. Kind of a let down...

Just under 12 miles; 5 hours and 50 minutes. Beautiful weather today—and we followed the trail here on AllTrails accurately the whole way. Beautiful hike—would highly recommend!!!

Great trail for a quick hike and nice views of the surrounding area.

Beautiful, but not well marked. Was able to hike this trail from the National Park Campground.

We actually combined the Upper and Lower trails for this hike into a longer loop. Quiet, not a single other hiker even though the mountain was absolutely packed with people. Lower Dogwood was rougher with several washed out areas but the Upper was very well maintained despite the lack of travel.

Nice easy walk around the mountain with numerous cutoffs to change the length. Never ventures far from road way so there's constant noise from traffic and tourists at the overlooks.

Tried to do this route again after hoping some of the photo folks had dispersed. Never happened.

Fun scenic drive up the mountain BUT tourists made it impossible. They were sitting in the middle of the road taking photos and selfies. There were people doing shots in wedding attire, school uniforms, and matching family outfits around every curve. One even had props they had to remove from the roadway so we could keep driving. Yes, the fall colors are pretty but they were in the middle of the road!! Craziness.

Well maintained. Clearly marked. Walked with two small dogs who handled it well.

Great hike. Steep incline at first. Levels out.

Solo walk with dog and 3 kids (2,4,6) was a little challenging. It took us 2 hours to walk 2 miles. My kids loved climbing the boulders along the trail. Several runners, hikers, and dogs along the trail on this Saturday morning in November.

Meh. Trail is easy to follow and shade is plentiful. But mostly all you will see are low-growth trees of the same kind for most of the walk - very few areas to view the hills along the way, but when you get a glimpse it’s pretty nice. Some long and steep sections (especially second half of trail), but the trail is mostly easy and only really to be rated as moderate when it comes to length.

Fun trail run. It too steep.

Nice hike and has a few good overlook areas.

A little steep so be careful if it is wet. Did the top part to get to Dead Chief Trl back to Bathhouse Row.

Easy with not too much vertical/elevation change. Got to it by way of Peak trail.

Beautiful, hilly, not too long & with few hikers.

For such a short drive at the (formally) smallest national park, it is quite beautiful and enjoyable. There are various pullouts to get a panoramic, some better than others, and the town is even better. Saw lots of deer, a raccoon, and plenty other small wildlife.

I loved this loop. Very well marked and maintained. Nice and gravely so no slipping on wet leaves. Saw tons of deer. Saw no people although it’s a weekday and raining.

Beautiful trail with a lot of history. It is brick-paved, so today we had to bypass with our newborn in stroller:)

My son and I walked this trail on a beautiful fall Sunday afternoon. The ascent to the peak was harder than I expected with an overall difficulty of "moderate", but the trail was well maintained and wide and was a pleasant hike on such a lovely day.
