great trail for a workout. first mile is flattish but rocky followed by a steep climb for the next mile. after milepost two you lose most of the other people and it becomes a rolling path with a few rough bits.

was a great hike but a sign was facing the wrong way and got us off track by 2 miles

Usually very crowded for the first mile and a half but gets better after that. not sure why this is listed as hard, it's mostly smooth and, after the initial mile climb, just a gently rolling path. if you pay attention there is a good chance of seeing mule deer and javalina.

A great medium difficulty trail! It was a cool, breezy day—just perfect. If you’re there in the summer, try to get there early in the morning. Although there are many benches to rest on, there is very little shade.

I parked at the south lot Trailhead at 6:20am on 4/11/18 and hiked to the Goat Canyon Tr mm#1. Pretty mild hike to this point. Crossed the wash which began gradually increasing in slope. Very pleasant so far. Increase in slope and rocks began shortly. I Crossed the wash again and the difficulty increased markedly (for an old guy). I handled it pretty well however the heat was intense. Progress became slow. The trail and scenery were breathtaking. I made it to mm#2 and decided to stop and return.
NOTE- I carried a Garmin Foretrex GPS. It indicated 1.6mi as the distance between mm #1 and 2. And it certainly felt like it.
The trip back down was quick and easy. I only saw 3 other hikers in my short trek. The scenery and solitude were great. I returned to my car at 10:20am. My total distance was 5.17mi. Total ascent was 795’. Seemed MUCH more.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will return again.
Thanks much to Maricopa White Tanks Regional Park as I have enjoyed several other shorter hikes in the unit during my short stay here.

its challenge, some turns are poorly marked.

The first part is pretty level, and you don’t start climbing until almost 2 miles out. Once you start climbing up the rocks, there will be some shade in the morning.
Saw my first rattle snake this morning.

love the new experience

Best trial in the White Tank Park.

paved and well marked beginner's trial. To catch the waterfall, there must be rain the previous day.

The trial is moderate not difficult. Take your time and enjoy the view and wildlife.

early morning track, its too hot in the afternoon due to no shade in summer

It can be cold in the morning at the beginning of the hike in the canyon, the later part of the trial is exposed to the sun and should be avoided in the afternoon in the summer heat.

Exactly 9 miles. Took us about 41/2 hours with stopping and exploring several time.
We left on Waddell trail, took it to ford canyon , then willow trail, then to mesquite, which took us back to Waddell.
We loved some boulder climbing. We saw a couple ground squirrels, and birds. We saw a lot of what we think was bobcat poop.
Overall all a very fun trail. The obstacles at the beginning make it exciting. Some high drops- do not recommend with kids.

very easy trail. mostly paved. there must be heavy rain in order to have the waterfall flowing. good for kids. this is a popular trail so there are quite a few people coming and going.

Nice, easy hike, pretty scenery but crowded. Nice after a rain when the waterfall is running.

Saw a few lizards and a small snake along the trail, cool views and a good hike that’s not too strenuous but a good climb. We recorded 8.3 miles on the loop.

It’s a beautiful hike. I highly recommend hiking the north leg of the loop first. We did that and there were big boulders to climb on as the trail mostly followed a wash in that part. It was a very gradual incline that way as well. When we got to the high point of this loop, we were actually shocked at how much elevation we gained. The remaining part of the loop down was the most scenic and it was beneficial to be facing east the entire way down. The first part on the north side was very much closing you into the canyon and there weren’t a lot of views. The trail is beautiful though and it feels very unspoiled. The only hard part about it was the distance and would be hard because of the heat in the summer.

Great hike up to the dam. Not a good hot weather hike in my opinion. Expect some large boulder climbing.

Long hike but I clocked it just under 7.5 miles. Gorgeous views for the most part. Ran into a herd of mule deer on Willow canyon trail. Glad I did the loop counter clockwise. Love this park! Trail had zero trash on it! Will return to attempt goat camp next time!

Easy, family trail. Great for young kids. There is also a small playground just across the street of the trailhead entrance.

super easy, short and sweet trail. the water fall wasn’t flowing when we visited but the rocks and the views were still beautiful.

Easy stroll, great views and pictures.

Very scenic, loved it.

From 1.5 to 3 this trail is definitely difficult. From 3 to 6.4, it’s absolutely the most peaceful trail I’ve hiked. Well defined and just a great hike. I’m 65 and I made it. Challenging at times but totally worth it.

Hiked 3.5 miles up then back down twice during our stay at White Tank Regional Park. Trail is rugged between miles 2-3 but certainly worth the effort. We’re 60 and 66 and found it doable. Path is plenty wide. Expect rocky spots but nothing that can’t be stepped up and down.

Awesome hike!

There was quite a bit of shit on the trail as horses and dogs are allowed. I’d rank as a great easy trail, not moderate.
