Lots of trails but please take out what you bring in and help protect this land.

Took Bloody Basin Road from I-17 all the way to Sheep Bridge and back. 4wd is not necessary but be prepared for a long drive. Plenty of spots to stop and take pics, take a break for lunch or camping areas and the last 1/4 before Sheep Bridge gets kinda rocky/bumpy so your speed will slow down. Sheep bridge is a great place to wander and explore.

gets you from point A to point B. cool with regards to views of the lakes and the canyons, but the road is too narrow at many places for the amount of traffic there is.

It was fun and a bumpy ride, did a night run and we saw a sign that said you were required to have a permit to enter the area not sure it was for those that went for target practice or for everyone. Ran into some beautiful wild horses also!

Downloaded the GPX for this run. Seen it on a couple of other websites. The first 1/3 of the trail was packed with people staging their UTV's and dirt bikes along with scores more people who utilize the area for target shooting off the main trail. We made it to the river bed with some people camping and more UTV's. Stay to the right. Tons of off chute trails to go down. It offers tons of winding sandy road. There was only 1 uphill climb that was a little sketchy but with the proper line, not an issue. Overall, made it in and out within 1hr.

Used to take this road as an alternate route home a long time ago. It's definitely a scenic drive and worth doing. Haven't been for many years and it sounds like there have been many changes through the years. I'm sure the road itself is pretty much the same. The starting point on this review is kinda random. I would have thought Tortilla Flat would have been a more likely place to start or stop this. This is a desert drive, so there's not much in the way of shady spots. Great boating on all the lakes through here too.

Short cut from Apache junction to the dam. Great scenic drive. 4X4 not needed but it is a gravel road.

nice leisure drive, only real concern are people towing boats trying to get to apache lake...they seem to like to fly around corners in the middle of the road.

great views, camping around apache lake

Easy trail does not require 4x4 vehicle during normal weather condition.

Beautiful drive. Doesn't require 4x4, but some clearance. Toyota 4Runner TRD Offroad.

Easy off-road drive, tons of scenery, lots of fun. Some bumps and washboarding, but nothing particularly precarious. Easy for trucks and bikes.

Awesome place to beat the heat! Kids love this place!

Great hike! Very rocky but the water was perfect to swim in!

Been going here since I was a child. Trail is marked when it diverges from the dirt road. There is a sign that says swimming. After you see water the trail ends and it's a scramble over slick rock to get to the waterfall. Water is really cold, my family always called it cold springs. Nice swimming hole.

It was a good scenic drive. The road was fairly smooth.

I did this trail approx. 15 years ago and it was an actual off road trial. Now it has been groomed and graded and is nothing more than a dirt road. The scenery is nice but it is not as fun of a drive as it used to be

Cute little trail tucked away in the creases of the Ellison Creek Canyon! Deep water, able to jump in from the log (check of course before you jump). Water was very refreshing and hike wasn't bad at all!!! PICK UP YOUR TRASH

Great day trip. Probably good idea to have high clearance but 4WD not usually needed.

Finished the last 1/3 of Cave Creek, all of Bloody Basin (FR269), to I-17 in the dark... in my Kia Sorento. I need to go back through int he daylight to get some photos of the view; which I imagine must be spectacular.

Great views throughout the trails and once you go high enough the terrain makes you feel like your up north!

First time jeep ride through this mountain. Amazing 70-degree January day. Saw deer, a road runner, a crested cactus, a cave, a mine, an elephant-trunk-shaped rock formation and a heart rock. Fabulous day with friends

Like the name says, It's a road. That said I've used it cross country bike touring when the rim top 300 road was closed for spring melt. It can be "washboarded" from time to time the locals told me. Quit scenic as it traverses the mogollon rim.

Finished drive today between Cave Creek Rd (FR24)', west on Bloody Basin (Fr269) to I-17. Road was in worse shape than expected. Many ruts and signs of recent erosion. Scenery is nice. Not many other vehicles, but this was a weekday in the winter so that's not a big surprise. Will do again, but will plan for more time to complete the trip.

Long ATV ride! Take extra fuel, water and proper clothing! The hot-spring is hidden down the hill, north of the sheep bridge in the reeds. Only saw one other vehicle on the way in.

I took this route as a short cut and for its drive when I was driving from SnowFlake to Mesa. Beautiful country with outstanding views. Well worth the trip. Not recommended if your pulling a trailer.
