I would consider this hike difficult and if you are inexperienced I would not recommend.

There's little to no shade so it can be hot even if you go early. Would recommend sticking to the suggested months in the trail description.

There is some scrambling towards the cave so gloves might be helpful (a hiking pole is useless at that that point). Coming down is rough too so be prepared to use your whole body for this hike.

The cave is cool and a fun photo op, but I wouldn't do this one again until it was much cooler out.

A short hike with a decent elevation gain. The cave and the view at the end make this one worth it!

Great hike but not marked well. Whenever you get to a fork in the trail, go left! Many people we passed on the way down had gotten lost or were way off the trail

This is by far the BEST hike I've gone on in superstition Mtn. Beautiful, well maintained, some shade along the way, and good cardio spots!
The only downfall is the long dusty dirt, washboard road (7 miles) to get there.
The hike seems longer than 5.5 miles RT but absolutely love it!

The hike is it's gentle climb to the switchbacks and never gets too difficult. Theres great footing, not a lot of loose rocks. It's an easy hike for most people. it took me 48 minutes to the top, not pushing too hard.

Great and easy trail! We hiked with our daughter and she had fun as well. I do enjoy the other trails a little better than this one, at the Superstition Mountains. At the top of the trail there were lots of mosquitoes and bees, by the water, so just be careful. Beautiful views!

the views were great, the trail is a little off of a neighborhood but it's not too difficult. it gets 4 stars cuz there are better trails at the superstition mountains but if u have beginners with u it's a great trail. it deserves 4.25 or 4.5 stars. not too many bugs but they're there. a bee got close to my girlfriend and she dropped her backpack and ran back down the trail 50 yards lol. I couldn't believe it lol

Trail is not marked like everyone said, but with the tips everyone gave below it was rather easy to find. I only saw 1 orange gate & I went through it. Turn left and then keep your eye on the cave and you simply can't get lost. Trust me... I get lost going everywhere but this wasn't hard at all to figure out. It is VERY steep coming down and I fell & scratched up myself a bit. And that was with good hiking shoes so be careful. It was a great challenging work out & the cave was AMAZING!!!!!
