Great trail I’m a somewhat new hiker. Challenging enough for a good workout if you are trying to get fit and measure your endurance. Plenty of water needed.

Great hike. Beautiful scenery on Pyrite. We added the switchbacks on Turnbuckle for a full loop.

I would rate this trail more of a moderate level, the trail is clearly marked and well maintained. Either way to take the trail the workout is great, the slight change in terrain made for a fun trail running experience.

This is going to be one of my favorites. Go clockwise if you want more of a workout. At the junction you go 3/10 of a mile to a really cool view from the summit.

Coming down the trail is really easy. The trail here is much better then trails at White Tanks. There are restrooms that are very clean, please help keep them that way.

love this trail. I do it usually 3 times a week. nice and relaxing with a hard switchback section ( if you start to the south). going up to the summit is a bit of a narrow trail and steep but the views are worth it.

My “go to” hike Saturday mornings when I’m limited on time but need to get off the concrete. Love this hike. Clockwise is the best workout with the switchbacks! The view from the top is worth it!

It was a very nice morning hike and not very many people at all, probably due to the rain during the previous night and still overcast skies. Most of the trail is easy to moderate and only slightly difficult on the optional summit portion. The whole loop took us a little over 2 hours, which included many photo stops. Great views throughout the hike. Would definitely go back and do again!!

Did this one on New Year’s Eve in the rain. It’s a gorgeous trail, as are all the trails I’ve been to at Skyline. The trek to the summit was doable and I’d love to come back. I didn’t technically do the whole loop, because at some point after the summit I got turned around the way I came, which actually made the trail longer.

Beautiful views at the peak. Good trail, does narrow as you come closer to the peak. Took 2:15 minutes to hike from starting point at entrance small parking area. Quartz-mine trail

Great hike, especially if you go to the summit. The first part of it, Turnbuckle to Granite Falls was boring as it is mostly flat with typical desert scenery. Once you get more into Granite Falls and onto Pyrite, then you really start climbing. The views are outstanding if you go to the summit. You have 360 degree views from up there. Very peaceful. Once I left the summit and got back to the Pyrite trail, I headed towards the Chuckwalla trail. This will take you back to the trailhead through Granite Falls and finally Turnbuckle. This is a long trail, so make sure you have plenty of water and start early. I would do this trail again.

When driving into Skyline Park, you can park at the 1st stop sign and pick up Quartz Trail there, or park at the Discovery area. This trail doesn’t start where the majority of the other Skyline trails start. With that being said, this was a really nice hike. There didn’t seem to be many people on this trail. Great incline headed up to the summit, a real good work out. I definitely benefited from having hiking poles as there was quite a bit of gravel once you start the Javelina portion. The view was well worth my effort. I highly recommend this trail and would do it again.

There are better ways to access javalina summit trail. I recommend parking at skyline regional park and use an alternate trail instead of going off park district. You don’t see anything and you’re hiking on an atv trail.

Really good morning hike! Amazing view! easy enough to get through in the early morning.

Great hike. Simple with enough incline to work you out. The view at the top completely makes it worth it. A long hike so make sure you bring plenty of water. I would definitely do this hike again.

Beautiful views! Not too hard of inclines. Multiple ways to get to the base and to come down. Absolutely beautiful panoramic views from the top.

first time doing this hike. did it counter clockwise..took about an hour and a half. beautiful hike. great to be away from the city. you see other ppl but its not busy.

This trail starts off simple enough. Then gives you a good workout. Offers some spectacular views. It’s worth it to get to the top. A great hike overall! I would hike this trail again.

This is a great trail! I had no idea it was going to be such a fun hike. It had it all - elevation gains, amazing views, the trail route is on a cliff, and everyone was really friendly. I can’t say enough good about it. Instantly became a favorite of mine. You must trek up to the peak, the view is worth the trip. I will definitely hike this trail again!

We have done a few hikes with our Boxer in the West Valley and this was one our favorites. Not so challenging that it tuckered our pup out halfway through but challenging enough that we felt like we got a decent workout in. The trails are clearly marked with mini maps on each post. We ended up taking Mountain Wash to Turnbuckle and took Turnbuckle back to the trailhead. It wasn't too crowded as we went at 10 am on a Sunday in December. We are looking forward to our next trip to Skyline to try out the other trails!

Great hike! Beautiful views and today’s weather was perfect.

Great hike with good elevation changes

This trail is nice, had a section that is moderately difficult for a beginer hiker, but can be done.

Nice, fun hike for those desert views. A moderate climb, with the switchbacks really making your body work. We did the optional summit climb, a little steep but worth it for the views. Nicely situated park without looking in neighborhoods like other hikes I have been on. Lots of trails here, picnic table areas and clean restrooms. Recommend this place!

First and foremost, it's free. I'll never pay to walk around in nature. Overall not too bad, though the increase in elevation can get a little steep at times, especially on some of the switchbacks. The terrain gets quite rocky in some places. Not sure if that is normal for this area, it's my first trail in Arizona. The views are ok, though there's not much to look at except scrub brush and cactus. And it's only 3.5 miles if you don't do the little out and back at the top. All in all, not a bad little hike.

great workout!

This was stunning. I can’t say much more than that. I also caught a desert tortoise passing through.

Just started hiking and pretty out of shape. Did this trail today and had a lot of fun. The switch backs going clockwise are no joke. Planning to do the trail again later this week.
Beautiful views and lots of people on the trail in case you have questions.
