We took a shorter route which was good today. This was a well marked and easy trail to hike. We did have GPS which is always nice to have. Only used the GPS when we were taking the short cut. As it gets warmer, getting an earlier start would be ideal. Will be back later for the full hike. Some of the hiking trails were beautiful with Buena vista views.

Nice trail! Close to downtown pinetop. Very well marked. Went counterclockwise about 3 miles and then turned around, beautiful views and only saw 1 other person the whole hike. Gradual up and down, nothing to steep. Great way to spend a few hours in the trees!

Nice little hike through the woods. My favorite part was looking out into the beautiful meadow about 2/3 of the way.

Good quick hike but poorly marked at times. I kept my GPS on to make it for the full loop. Good views once you get past the trees. But kinda eerie at times alone Will do it again with a friend ☀️

The weather and water were fantastic. Great trail.

No water but beautiful views and a great training trail.

This is a great training trail. Lots of moderate climbing, a couple of technical sections and a bit of zippy descending.

Not bad...Trail is not well marked and with many intersecting mountain bike trails and roads. Good cell service will allow you to check your position using GPS. Pay attention or you may find yourself on a longer hike than you had planned for!

I completed the hike with my two dogs and they had a blast. The scenery was bueatyful, and the hike was challenging enough to be a good workout. Can be muddy in parts of the trail.

Beautiful hike, the leaves are changing makes for great views close to the top end of the trail. It is rocky as you make your way up. On way down took the See Spring trail and enjoyed sitting by the water relaxing. Went on a Saturday and only saw 3 groups of hikers.

Nice views and hike. Easy to miss turns & get off trail so be attentive. Will do again.

The first time I tried this trail I was alone and I definitely don't think it's the trail to do alone. it's pretty isolated. This next time I took my mom and we both felt it was pretty eerie. I guess because it is so isolated in back woods and there were bones hanging from trees. the trail markings aren't that great. We found a road halfway in and took that back to the car. overall, wasn't bad.

It was a nice hike. there's a few connector trails that almost makes you feel lost.

I'm kind of a beginner mountain biker and I didn't think that this trail was all single track I've ridden it on my horse and maybe we took some connector trails remember some more gravel roads .this was all single track but it wasn't undoable for a beginner I did walk in a few places where there was lots of rocks but I was able to ride over a few it was a really well Marked Trail and I really enjoyed it and I would definitely do it again

nice hike for a stroll. hoping for a few vistas. found a ton of unique mushrooms and the forest sounds were amazing. not fun 4 a 4 year old. ended up coming home early.

Hiked from the top at FR300 and down. Very rocky in places and steep at times. Caught in monsoon storm the last mile or so which was a treat! Soaking wet but well worth it! Hiking poles were very helpful in some spots and was excited to find wild raspberries which were delicious. Beautiful scenery and lush.

Dragged the family and a city dog for the experience which meant our pace was a bit slower than normal....but even with that we banged it out in about 75 mins. Did it in reverse and didn't encounter any major mud/puddle issues until we got to about C4 thru C2. Didn't know about the elevation change...and since we were going from C6 to C5.... it was a bit of an uphill climb for novices. You can avoid by making it a downhill climb doing it in # order as it doesn't appear there is any other dramatically elevation point. Enjoyed the loop...right on my backyard

Wide trial, part Old Rim Road, part bike trail. Lots of solitude but not a ton of shade. The lake was beautiful and a good destination to hike to and rest at. Missed a few turns so keep your eyes peeled.

Enjoyed the west side of the trail and the views. The east portion of the loop offered no variety of scenery and limited shade due to the thinning project.

Kind of a boring hike. crossed the dirt road too many times. Do the Spring Trail, it is close by and much more scenic.

It used to be a beautiful trail however it looks like the forest service has let loggers in there and bare and they literally have just cleaned it out very disappointing

This is definitely a four season trail. Beautiful vista views with a different feel depending on the season. In the winter great for snowshoe hiking. In the spring about a quarter mile in from the trailhead water holds and mountain tree frogs can be heard singing. On occasion wild mustangs can be seen grazing in small bands. In particular two stallions Sky and Midnight can be seen along the trail. I was told by local residents that they have been along this trail since 2010.

Lots of geo caches if you enjoy that activity and if you have mountain bikes .... this is definitely your trail!

This is a fun trail to bike, sort of. The first mile and a half or so is hard to find because of nearby clear-cutting, and then once you are hugging the rim, it is clearly visible. But, once you are hugging the rim it is very overgrown and narrow with thorny-bushes, fairly impossible to ride. However, then you hit the paved portion and it becomes great fun, a lot of fast coasting less than ten feet from sure death! If you completely finish the paved section of Rim Lakes Vista, and then backtrack to where you cross Rim Road to connect to General Crook, you can add about 4 miles to the trip. The General Crook portion has nice scenery, in the forest, but the trail is so overgrown and unused, almost completely invisible at times, that riding it is not much fun. But, it runs right next to a nice dirt road, if you want to use that. All in all, fun and a decent workout, but not five stars.

One of the best hikes in the area (next to Mt. Baldy of course). Take the extra time to do the summit. Great views of Mt. Baldy.

Hiked 4/16/2017

The trail-head was easy enough to find. Enjoyable hike, there was running water intermittently along the trail, and a few slight patches of snow near the top. Not a great hike for views, there are really none to speak of, but the changes of flora and fauna as you gain elevation is interesting. The trail terminates at a nondescript spot on FR 300.

Trail markers exist, but who knows what trail you are on!? Ridiculously confusing making GPS and backtracking mandatory! Hike itself is awesome, but GPS is mandatory.

Tough bike ride, kicked my butt, but I'm out of shape. I went counterclockwise. The section from the trailhead to the right hand turn is totally rocky, couldn't bike it. After the right turn to go counterclockwise, it is mostly smooth sailing, really nice fast pine needle covered track. But, once you make the u-turn the trail skirts the whole way along the bluff for great views. Unfortunately pretty much that whole section along the bluff was way too difficult for me to bike because it is so rocky. At least three spots, in which the bike would not even fit, so had to carry. Anyway, great ride, I think it is more like 8+ miles.
