Really easy and wide trail. Great for kids, but my 3 year old had a hard time staying steady on the loose rocks.

Good workout! So many pretty views. Took me about two hours to complete :)

trail was nice and quiet. not too many hikers. we brought our pup and he seemed to enjoy himself. it's nice that the big part of the climb is at the beginning of the hike. nice morning hike

Went from Moonlight Trail to San Tan Trail instead of San Tan Trail to Moonlight this time it was more challenge than last time I went because of a lot of incline but GREAT work out. End up 6.6 miles 2 and half hour if you want to see gorgeous city. Go from San Tan Trail to Moonlight Trail and easier than Moonlight to San Tan Trail

First time hiking with my 6 year old son and he made it.

I love and love I did 6.3 miles and it’s good work out too a lot of uphills and downhills. Not too hard. I def will come back more Theres several bench you can take a break.

fun trail, but lightly trafficked? I guess it depends on your definition of light, but I hiked this trail plus dynamite and probably crossed paths with roughly 50 hikers and 25 mountain bikers absolutely blazing the trails.

not enjoyable if you're looking for some peace and quiet.

Was a great long hike!!! Very easy to walk and great trail! Weather was awesome this morning!

3/20/18 Great trail. Pretty easy even for a big guy like me (350lbs). Has some ups and downs but they’re pretty spaced out. There are a few vista views and there’s even a nice sturdy bench about a mile into the trail. Beware of lots of horse poop along the trail, also by the looks there were either bike tire or off-road walker tracks. The trail initially splits off the gold mine trail about 1/4 mile into it, the trail runs on the west side of the mountain so if you start before 10am the trail will be mostly shaded. There’s a $6 self pay parking fee. 2 porta potties in the parking lot.

I did this hike on Tuesday with a buddy from out of town. It was the first time either of us have been in the San Tans. This trail is the most beautiful trail I've done in/around the Phoenix area, hands-down. Magnificent desert. I'll be back and hitting all those trails. Like others have said here, other than the distance, this is a piece of cake hike on a great trail.

beautiful evening hike so you're covered in shade. slow and steady incline. graft for running or hiking with kiddos.

on Dynamite Trail

This is an easy trail, but there is a good variety of terrain along the way. There were quite a few bikers so be aware of what's coming up behind you. The map doesn't show the entire trail. It does continue to the San Tan Trail which brings it to about 3.5 miles one way.

Good trail. Glad I can read and know they have signs everywhere stating that the trail has a large wash portion (and it's on every map). Makes it easy to prepare if you're using the most baseline of observation.

Beautiful views and great trail

Great hike around the loop today. Warm temps but cloud cover helped. Nice easy hike with beautiful cactus!

Hike up Goldmine gets hard but only for a very short portion. Great for the legs! The San Tan trail connection is not very exciting, more like a desert walk, which makes it feel long and boring. Then you hit Dynamite and book it down which is fun and good cardio. Very little shade on this loop.

Good smooth, easy trail without a lot of sharp rocks (for the most part). I extended the trip a bit by taking a left on Malpais instead of a right which would lead back to the parking lot. Total loop was a little over 3 miles. Some nice typical desert scenery. I started around 4:30pm on a Saturday and saw about 15 people, so pretty quiet. Very nice at sunset.

Loved it!! Everyone was so nice and helped others out!

Beautiful trail. We really enjoyed it. Has a little of both ups and downs and flat trail. Spectacular views. It’s easy to moderate.

Since we just moved to Arizona we aren’t the most experienced hikers but this was a good trail to build up experience. The first portion is the most difficult but has a nice view. It is $6 to hike however. You can pay at the parking lot but no change available and the parking lot has limited space. Decent hike.

This is a great hike casual hike with a steady mild up climb for about 1.7 miles and then back down. It was great for my little buddy Keebler who is 13 years old and distance is starting to get to him. It's also a great run trail.

I am 82 and my wife is 80. We loved this trail. Varied terrain and flora. Great views. One thing needs to be noted, the trail shown as Malpais is actually the Moonlight trail. We did it counterclockwise. Would recommend doing it that way. This gives you a nice long down hill finish.

FYI you have to pay to get into this area for the hike, it’s $6. My husband and I didn’t know that before going and didn’t bring any money with us as we thought we were just going for a hike.

I’m a beginner. It’s challenging, but I loved it!

Nice hike. Get there early to park!
