A very nice hike, though not an easy one. Great landscapes, the trail starts in pines and ends among saguaros. This is a good route to take when the road to the Mount Lemmon trail head is seasonally closed. Drive to Summerhaven, then turn right on E. Carter Canyon road, and go to the Mint Spring trailhead. There you can leave one car with the other car left at the Sabino Canyon recreation area if you want to make this a one way). Take the Wilderness of Rocks trail #44, and from its southernmost point and go another 2.4 miles to the Romero Pass. Then take the West Fork trail to Hutch's Pool. Then walk the remaining distance up to Sabino Canyon Recreation area. **It is a must to carry plenty of water.**Show more
