Went from Catalina State Park, Sutherland trail to Baby Jesus Ridge trail to petroglyphs..... once you leave Sutherland trail, it slowly turns to single track that is very hard to follow. GPS is your best friend on this “trail”- as you can see from my recorded track, I lost the path lots of times. The petroglyphs are amazing, hard to get to... not sure I’ll make it back anytime soon.

Absolutely amazing place! Though wouldn't recommend for novices due to the complexity of the trail system in the area. Give yourself more time than originally allotted for many reasons... We got "off trail" several times and also discovered many beautiful places to explore especially with the petroglyphs. The whole loop is not clearly marked and intersects several other trails.. can be challenging... Bring extra water, food and alot for more time... But if you "know what you're doing" it's truly magical:) And have your phone fully charged before you go to reference the app:) Compass helps too! Enjoy!!

Great Hike. We ran out of daylight but managed to get back just as the last bit of light was available.

Starts off pretty easy through a narrow entrance but gets quiet steep for the last 600ft of elevation, the view atop is worth the climb though. On my way down I cut through and came down using the aspen trail, still managed to do about 7 miles in all with the last mile or so on the road.

The last 1.5m to the summit is a workout. I took my poles but didn't need them. It's all very exposed, so you may wanna go when it's cooler.

Very happy I did this as an out and back rather than return by the road. Thanks, previous reviewer!

Lots of mountain bikers today! Beautiful way to get out of the Tucson heat. I’d say the rating is moderate.

The hike downhill was nice, some spots were overgrown and I got pretty scratched up wearing shorts. It's rated moderate which is a tad confusing because the way back is all uphill with some steep climbs very similar to Butterfly Trail which is rated hard. Breathtaking views and an all around great hike

Great trail when you are on the trail. About half of it is on paved roads. It should be an out and back. Once you get to the top by the towers just turn around and go back unless you like walking down the road

Great trail to catch views of Tucson and the larger mountains to the north. No shade, so bring lots of water and sunscreen. Check forecast before going, this crosses multiple washes and flash floods could be possible if a thunderstorm comes through.

One of the best trails in Tucson for all sorts of wildlife. I have seen deer every trip that I have taken, but that is expected. What wasn't expected, is the amazing views of the Tucson basin, plus high cliffs. Totally stunning.

Most of the first 2 miles or so are very overgrown and due to the many flowers on the trail, much of the hike was through hoards of bees and butterflies. No shade until at the peak around mile 3. The entire hike was also full of forks in the trail without signs. We would have gotten lost had we not downloaded and followed the AllTrails map religiously! About half of this hike is done on the main roads which doesn't make for great hiking, but the last mile or so before reaching road again was beautiful and lush. Was an ok hike but I wouldn't recommend it or do it again.

Great trail, as a non-experienced hiker I would be cautious if you are going there and back, I started at 7:30am and didn't get back until noon!
