Great workout. A booty and leg buster for sure. Lots of people on the weekends, makes it hard to walk, but keep patience and breathe in the views. Amazing at the top!

A lot of fire roads and urban views. Seems like a favorite for trail running and those who seek flatter terrain. Loose rocks on the way down (going counter clockwise) could be a challenge for some.

Great hike! Short and sweet. I’ve only done the Flat iron trail in lost Dutchman “which is a lot more difficult” It was definitely worth it. It took us an hr and a half.

Yep, it's hard. There are lots of trail, the Summit Trail most busiest. Heavy traffic. Start early, where hiking boots..support them ankles. Bring water, and prepare for a good workout. Views are breathtaking!

great hike. the terrain makes it challenging. wear good hiking shoes and bring water and it will be an enjoyable hike.

I would say this is more moderate.

We really enjoyed this challenging hike! Recap here: http://anchoredintheevergreens.com/hiking/piestewa-peak-summit-arizona-hiking-trails

Did 304-8 yesterday. 304 is a connector from Squaw Peak Drive that leads over the mountains to 8. At the low point of 8, there is a wash leading from 8 off to the northwest. I had passed by the wash several times but had never gone inside. Yesterday I decided to hike inside a bit and check out the wash. It is a long and broad wash and I really didn't travel that far inside. The wash is cloaked with trees and bushes so that there is actually little sunlight leaking inside. It is well shaded. As I passed through the wash, at one point I leaned over to the side of the wash to study a rock platform. Looking down from where I had leaned over, I immediately saw a large rattlesnake curled up on rock and dirt. It was practically invisible to view, with a pattern on its hide that precisely matched rock and dirt. I didn't see it until it was too late. There was less than a foot between my chest and this giant snake. Also, though, I didn't hear anything as I approached. No rattle and no movement. I stood very close, but didn't hear a sound. I jumped back anyway, leaping out of range while watching the snake. It did not move! Then I threw a rock at it, with the rock missing the snake's body but landing close by. No movement! The snake was asleep or dead, and it was my lucky day. Had it been awake or alive as I approached, it could easily have bitten me, including maybe in the heart. If so, today I would be dead! Oh well, fun hiking in Phoenix.

Great hike! Requires many breaks along the way up, busy trail on weekends. Limited parking. The top is narrow and rocky, so there’s not enough room to sit down and relax. Gorgeous view though. Watch out for those squirrels at the top, they’re feisty for food.

This trail is a nice escape from the bustle of Piestewa Peak. It features a more remote feel than many of the hikes in the preserve. Really felt the climbs, especially since I went counter-clockwise on the loop and saved the hardest uphill until later. Lots of spider trails, but followed the recording and had no issues knowing when/where to turn.

Went out this afternoon to do this trail in the 102 degree heat. 304, 1A, and VOAZ. Actually, I passed VOAZ along the 1A, but finished on the Irregular Link. VOAZ and Irregular Link are both connector trails, looping over the mountain between 1A and 304, but Irregular Link is a bit more challenging. There's lots to see on this hike, with mountains and cacti aplenty. A good, reasonably tough hike. At the end of my hike today, I passed two climbers going up after 5 pm the way I had just come down. At parking, there were plenty of hikers arriving late. The hike is recommended!

nice short and aggressive hike to get some exercise. trail always seems crowded, so be prepared for that. Some trail runners cut corners off trail and end up hurt, stay on the trail for your sake and the trails.

I did 304-8-8A-8B yesterday. a pleasant loop of about 4 miles. Not difficult, really, though 8B calls for a little careful stepping going west over the mountain and back to 304. Good views all around.

I did 304-8-8A-8B today. Quite a little loop. Not really difficult to speak of, though some careful footing on 8B over the mountain is called for. It was about 4 miles in total. Last time I jumped on 8 I got lost! Or not really lost, but still not making my way back. I made wrong turn after wrong turn until I finally stumbled on to the Alternate Summit trail, climbed up to the summit trail, and then mountered down to ground level and parking. There's lots of good hiking in Piestewa Peak Park, once known as Squaw Peak. You can do some mileage and see some sites.

this a great trail. Heavy traffic and lots of parking construction. Very steep at the top. Definitely a rock staircase. Bring lots of water.

Not for someone just starting out but great if you’re looking for a quick out and back in less than 2 hours. There is a little scramble just below the summit and the last 400 ft is a relatively steep incline. Just watch your step and hike easy.

Well traveled path, you could not loose the trail, if you tried. Some parts have loose gravel, but certainly not bad. Lots of squirrels, some birds.

Moderate- very rocky, but great views and good workout

Great place super busy!

Hard to believe that there are trails this cool near the center of town!

This is a double black diamond trail. Definitely not for the faint of heart.
