..this time i took my kids and their bikes in the evening to see how well they'll do on the paved trail..&& they actually did great..they enjoyed the mountain views and was happy they didn't ave to actually climb anything tonight..sn: they were knocked out sleep..being active has some great perks for parents..lol

Fun 5k run!

Pretty trail. Nice views. Kind of difficult to follow. Easy to get off the trail without knowing it. The trail was pretty flat for most of the way.

Early hike! This is an easy trail (if you are not climbing the butte). My favorite part is where the stairs are at! Also the views of the butte.
Went with 3 kids and they enjoyed the hike

Pretty good hike. Very easy but something to take friends or family to without going far away. The construction off behind the golf course was loud but if you take your headphones I didn’t notice it anymore.

Great park!! Fun place to explore, hike, and enjoy! Loved climbing the rocks for great views 360 degrees. Very busy on the weekends but park is big enough doesn’t matter.

It’s fun to rock climb the mountains

First time mountain biking. Used this trail to break in new bike. For beginners, its a great trail.

Nice easy hike. Great start to our family vacation.

Pretty straight forward most part ... I really like this place it's beautiful!

Easy hike with little portions of elevation. Great for dogs and children.

Roughly an hour loop including times I made a wrong turn and/or stopped for pictures. Got way too excited seeing a jackrabbit along the trail.

1st time there i was very impressed.

Nice trails, but some construction going on, so part of the Big Loop is closed. No big deal... just walked a slightly shorter path.

trail not marked clearly with 5 near red rocks and part closed due to golf course expansion . How sad

A nice confidence builder for people thinking of doing harder hikes in the area or just want to get outside. A nice compliment to visiting the botanical garden.

It was an easy trail but really difficult to follow. When you begin you can follow the posts labeled “5” but as you get closer to the red rocks, the posts aren’t labeled anymore.

Great with the dogs, beautiful too

I love this hike because it is a nice, easy walk but just long enough to get moving! Wonderful views and lots of people out on the trail.

They look great from the road, fun indentures to climb in, but the trails aren't very challenging, unless you create your own up the mountains, but the entire park seems to be littered with broken glass. I don't understand what is going on there, never seen anyplace in Metro-Phoenix that looked this way since moving here? A great easy trail for folks looking to just take a stroll or ride their bike or run around. Also a lot of bees towards the top of the mountains in various crevasses.

Last Sunday, I attempted to do the Elliot Ramada and Double Butte Loop as described in the book "Take A Hike: Phoenix". The trail was supposed to be marked with a number 5 but I didn't see one anywhere but on the mapboard. I would have had a hard time anyway since when I walked over from the zoo, I didn't see any indication which ramada was the Elliot ramada. It was fortunately not too hot yet so it was a good day for wandering around and, of course, the Hole in the Rock was beautiful, but it would have been a better.experience with more markings or some which were easier to find and follow.

Nice short trail, I think it only took a little over an hour even after stopping to enjoy the scenery and to catch my breath a few times. It’s easy until you get to the rocks and then it becomes moderate. The views were pretty ok once you get some elevation. It’s only ten minutes from my place so it was worth the trip for me.

This local hike was a very easy hike during the day in January. No shady areas along this loop, except a shelter at the parking lot and in between the buttes, so a hat was needed. There were paved paths for the 5k Loop and dirt hiking trails intertwining with some of the mountain bike paths so you can pretty much make up your own loop path off or on any one of them, including two options to go to the summit of each butte.
Free parking. No restrooms.

Very nice walking path. Easy hike

Easy trail around the rocks. Markings are a little poor with all of the bike crossovers. Still perfect to have this in the middle of the city.

Great hiking outing... I liked that you could very much personalize the difficulty that you want to accomplish. The official trail is super easy, almost flat, with great views around the bottom of the buttes. Now, I don’t know if it’s officially sanctioned to be able to go off the trail and climb up the buttes, but several hikers were and there were no signs saying not to. There are a myriad of unofficial-looking trails and ways to get up various parts of the buttes that provide a much more difficult (and fun) workout!

Great trail. Little bit of trash from other people.

I can’t see how this is rated “moderate” difficulty - it is a very straightforward granite path with minimal elevation changes. For what it is, it’s great, but it is more an in-town walking or jogging trail than a hike. You can hear and see cars (and often smell exhaust) and buildings around the entire thing.

This was a fun easy walk with lots of alternate paths but all in open view. Very easy trail taking you around both buttes and giving you the opportunity to climb up if you desire. Saw mostly birds, a good size jackrabbit and lots of scat on the section near the golf course.

Went on a nice easy hike with our dog. It went very well. Super easy.
