This hike was really beautiful and had the most diverse terrain of any trail I’ve hiked. Hyline has amazing views. I would not rate it as hard except maybe for climbing to the top of Cathedral Rock. Would definitely recommend it. For us it was 11 miles as we went off trail for awhile.

Easy to moderate to difficult. Mystic trail kinda boring but Interest picks up on Pecarry. Hogwash is really cool.

Went on 4/26 because it is one that is still open during Covid. Pretty easy, doesn’t get up high for overlooks really but still pretty views. Would be good for families (not strollers).

Mystic to hog Heaven to broken Arrow to Jim Bryant. Most of it was cool but the end of Jim Bryant is way too overgrown

Just gorgeous! Not too easy or hard. We did mystic to pig tail and back to mystic. Only 3 miles. Cool day and beautiful scenery!

We took Little Horse trail to connect to Jim Bryant trail. Once you pass chicken point area the trail became very narrow. This part of the trail is overgrown & few downed trees block the path. Very steep hike & gives you a claustrophobic feel. If you can skip this trail, do. It’s like once your on Bryant trail, everything is overgrown.

Absolutely beautiful and less trafficked than many other Sedona trails. Definitely easy but good views for a leisurely day. I recommend going up to the Holy across church right up the road from the mystic trailhead, after doing this hike - absolutely incredible views.

Easy at first but I recommend veering off to Hog Wash Trail

Freshly built switchbacks close to town make this section of trail a gem. Great views overlooking the city and red rock country

Went back to try to finish the entire trail. Had difficulty at the end trying to stay on trail. But still one of my favorite trails we did while in Sedona.

Enjoyed this trail. A bit challenging at times. Need to pay attention to trail markings to ensure you stay on trail. But that’s what made it more enjoyable. The views were great. Trail was not heavily traveled so you were pretty much to yourself

Nice hike. Easy to moderate. Recorded 3 miles with AllTrails.

This is one of my favorite hikes in Sedona. We expanded the hike by taking Hog Wash to Twin Buttes to Hog Heaven and the back to Hog Wash to finish at Mystic. It was about 5 miles - but had the most spectacular views!! We were a bit worried that it would be slippery and muddy as it had rained all day previously, but the trail was always very passable. It was a magical day!

We decided to take this loop and make it much longer and more challenging. So we did Mystic to Peccary to Hogwash, around the north side to Twin Buttes, up to Hog Heaven, back across to Hogwash, then down to the Mystic trailhead. We also included an out and back on High on the Hog, which is not for the faint of heart, but had absolutely spectacular views! The first part of the hike, Mystic to Peccary and around the north side of Hogwash, is what I would term “urban” hiking. It was fairly easy and close to homes. However, as we came around and got closer to Broken Arrow Trail, it became more moderate. Twin Buttes was moderate in difficulty, and beautiful! High on the Hog was difficult and not for the faint of heart, and Hog Heaven was moderately difficult, especially where there was ice over the rocks you had to cross. Our total distance was 5.3 miles.

One of our best hikes yet! Our dog loved it, there were a few tough uphills, but nothing super complicated. The views were incredible and coming from Cottonwood the drive thru Sedona was really cool. We will be back.

Just did Mystic out and back! Easy hike with beautiful views!

Nice easy hike. It was pouring down rain so I didn't get any views with the low cloud cover, but all of the washes were running so I got to see several "waterfalls". Glad I didn't let the weather keep me from going out.

easy walk

By far one of my favorite backpacking trails I’ve done. Even though I nearly froze to death on it. I did this in January and it rained on us with that 33 degree rain. Everything was wet and friggin cold. So definitely for people who go in prepared (unlike me) and don’t mind going through rough terrain. The trail starts right off the road. You’ll walk past some houses and then start your ascent. You’ll walk along a ridge line towards Munds mountain. This offers spectacular views to a deep canyon on your left and lots of wilderness only broken by the 17 snaking up to Flag on your right. I remember we dipped down a bit as we got off the ridge line and started right for Munds. I thought this area was probably a great place to camp. Lots of soft dirt and small pines. Also some classic Sedona red rock poking through. Now you’ll start a fairly steep trek upwards. We made camp at the top of this. Our night was pretty crappy on account everything was wet and cold. If not for that it would have been ideal for a camp. Our morning was cold, damp but beautiful. We had a view of the clouds in the distance rolling over peaks and could still see the 17. We never climbed Munds mountain and just went back to the car via jacks canyon on account we wanted to not be cold and wet anymore. Jacks canyon is alright. The trail down was basically non existent so it was a struggle with our packs on. I give this trail an 8.5. Strong score. I like the remoteness of most of the trail. It was hard to follow at times but not to bad. The views were spectacular. I like the strenuous trails because I think that makes the views at the top that much better. Jacks canyon was meh but that’s when you’re coming back anyway and ready to go home. So apart from getting down into the canyon it’s easy. I’m definitely going to do it again in good weather and make it a two night trip with a camp at the base of the actual munds mountain. I don’t want to say it’s THE spot for backpacking in Sedona because my experience is limited but as of now it’s my spot there for a good 1-2 night trip.

Great hike only negatives are you must navigate through residential area to complete the loop. Also, it is busy particularly on weekends with mountain bikers and hikers.

Easy to moderate, with good early morning shade. Nicer once u get farther away from the 179 highway and don't hear cars anymore.

Go right off the trail and up for the best pictures.

Great views! Beginning on Mystic, is easy. The rest I would classify as moderate. But my 62 year old knees made it!

It's a beautiful walk, with plenty of people, and the white line is at the turn around, sometimes there are people on the white line but it's rare I've heard. I saw someone walk it's length and it was pretty impressive.
