Easy to Moderate hike for sure, the beginning is fairly easy and there are a couple more difficult parts in the hike. 1 good stretch of incline about halfway through. Definitely would be more challenging in the heat of the summer. It's a nice short (2-3hr) hike in these winter months. Very limited shade. Watch the cairns as it is easy to lose trail.
This is a fun trail but is hard to follow and hard to find. People have erected small caerns but mostly it is by memory and guessing. Lots of variations. We usually start by the wash and take a right on the small trail after the steep downhill on the gravel road. Then we follow that until we are around the "mountain". We usually hike this as a loop. Beautiful scenery and usually not many people at all. Be careful and bring a car with 4-wheel drive.
It's a good trail for those who like a very defined, challenge trail. I prefer to see less people and more nature. If you are like me, this one is not for you. It is easily accessible (something hard to come across in the Yuma area) and not super difficult- we took our two five month puppies.
