very difficult in places in a sxs

DO NOT BRING YOUR CHILDREN, go to Daisy Mountain instead.

Great trail for the kids! Must of saw 20+ wild Burros and a gnarly tarantula.

Did this trail with a bunch of friends. Had a great time but they had done it before so they were going quite fast. I would have taken my time to smell the roses more. It was a great trail and some parts would be challenging for stock vehicles. I will be going again and plan on camping in the pines with my family.

This is an easy 1.6 mile trail one way. There is parking on both the north and south end of the trail....I started on the north end. I was disappointed in this trail for a couple of reasons. First of all, I did not see any burrows (but did smell them). Secondly, I was expecting that the trail would have good views of the Lake Pleasant, but that was not the case. The shoreline was so receded due to low water levels, that the shoreline was about half a mile away and barely visible. The views were boring. In fact, so boring, that I decided to make a loop on the way back by hiking along the roadways back to my car, making the hike about 4.5 miles in total.

I found this route a bit boring for hiking. OK for MB although I would still rate it easy and not moderate.
After about .65 miles, you have to walk a little bit on the road.
I saw tons of butterflies, small frogs and lizards.

We did this trip up and back in my RZR in May after some rain, 56 miles round trip, there were a few difficult spots but take you time and you will do fine. Excellent ride, all kinds of terrain. Can't wait to do it again!

We did this trail back in Easter Sunday with My stock 2011 Xterra Pro 4x. Never got stuck, but the trail was very challenging. I was in 4 low most of the time and had to use my rear lockers once. I would love to do it again. It took about 4 hours to complete.

Love this app!

Due to the trail being washed out, exposing large rocks and causing other rocks and trees to fall, a decently modified vehicle would be a minimum, even for bypasses.

If you want to get past the creek bed, you will need a more serious off road vehicle or something nimble like a RZR.
The Miner has been dumping boulders on the creek bed making it more like a narrow rock garden with a tight pass at the end.

Obstacles beyond the river bottom are larger due to erosion.

Excellent trail. Not for stock vehicles anymore. Need experienced driver and modified vehicle.

nice hike, park at the parking lot and hike through the wash usually dry unless it rains and follow the road till it end then follow foot path to Indian Mesa and up to it nice views and easy to get to, shade at the first half of the hike but not other half so bring water and watch for wildlife always see something when I go

We did the hike with a dog but if your dog is not wild and agile and fearless then the second peak will be impossible and quite possibly dangerous.

Saw 3 wild burros about a quarter mile from the start! Spot #9 on the map is where we started and it was $7 per vehicle to get into the park. Lots of cactus, but nice weather.

Actually burros visited.

Hard at times, very rocky section next to the mine.

Great ride. first part is easy then leads into Rocky trail. we used quads and got through. The 2 TRX 400's bottomed out through the rockest areas. The other utility quads our buddies used where fine. the 4×4's behind us had to stack rocks to get through. lots of traffic, watch corners for on coming traffic. This ride is a must.

Gavilan Peak....Steep!!!! On ascent we did the class III-IV climb....Badass!!!! If this hike was just a bit longer, it would automatically be included in my weekly schedule, due to proximity and difficulty. I wanted to go down the way we came up, but my girlfriend Salena was NOT havin it!! That being said, we made our descent down the “easier path.” To me this was more dangerous with all the loose rock! In the past, I have been overwhelmed with trepidation over the “impending” descent from vertical climbs, only to find that it’s much easier than anticipated. Next time.... up & down the same way!

Awesome day. We did this on Easter Sunday. Wife and son took stock '18 JL Sport. Did a couple of the obstacles. However, we did get stuck about 22-24 miles in going up the path and we really thought we were going to have to back down and turn around. Large rock in the middle of road. Got it stuck pretty bad at one point, but was able to get unstuck. Did a LOT of rock stacking and got up and over, after that no problems. About 2-3 miles before that there was a 2WD Tundra completely stuck on his rear differential. Had to jack him up and put rocks under to get him clear. I would not do this again stock, but we'll be getting a lift in the next few weeks and we'll be out there to do it again. Great drive!!

I hiked this trail in hopes of finding burros, I arrived at the trailhead in the afternoon and I did not find any burros. The trail itself is relatively easy with a light elevation gain. I started at the very top of the trail around Peninsula Rd and then made my way down to other end of the trail. It was great getting to look at Lake Pleasant and have a quiet walk around the lake. If your looking for burros, I would suggest either getting there in the evening or in the early morning.

Great day trip. Lots of obstacles that were optional for intermediate to advanced drivers. Really cool to see the climate change going from the dry desert to the tall trees of senator highway.

What a rad trail in side x sides. We staged down at the lake and were told try going straight at the big rock with CK pointing right. It’s 15-16 miles longer but so much fun and terrain variation. No jeeps in our way!! Perfect for utvs!! Go prepared. Dropped 30 degrees, up 7000 feet, and dumped rain on us. Had to buy rain gear and warm clothes at the store !! Great food and beverages at the restaurant too!!

This trail is a little gem in the Northwest Valley. We took about 4 hours to complete it and rested at the lake for a while before heading back. We only saw a few people along the way. It also connects with the Maricopa County Trail system.

great ride on the dirt bike! Fairly challenging though not for beginners.

Easy little trail right by lake!

Hiked the full trail out/back this morning (Saturday) with a friend and our dogs. I am not an “experienced hiker” (I only hike once a week) but I thought this trail was easy... We started at about 9:00am (around 60*) and got back to the car at 2:30pm (around 75*). We took frequent rest/water breaks and played in the lake for a while before making our way back. The trail was lightly trafficked - we only saw 2-3 couples/families biking and no other hikers. The trail is well maintained but there is a bunch of broken glass at the trailhead. Also a surprising amount of horse/dog feces. There is little to no shade so wear sunscreen!

Started at 2:45pm and made it back to my car at 7:00pm. Rested before making the 'out' trek and sat to watch the sunset before finishing the last mile. Saw multiple mountain bikers and I was the only hiker. The rolling hills as mentioned below kept it interesting. Saw 2 coyotes, burros, cottontails and a hawk. There is a tiny stream at the beginning that had minnows as well.

Awesome trails. Definitely need high clearance 4x4. Very rough for a 2 wheel drive quad. but can be done.
