Explore the most popular lake trails in Lake Mead National Recreation Area with hand-curated trail maps and driving directions as well as detailed reviews and photos from hikers, campers and nature lovers like you.

We did only a small section of this trail. We walked .2 miles to a view point that looked into the gorge where there was a waterfall below. We did not go further into the trail as it was midday and there is not one tree on this trail. It's just flat, treeless terrain. Though at the trailhead it says the trail is not maintained, at least the section we walked seemed well maintained, rock lined paths. Not sure how the rest of the loop is.

Great hike! Use the trail map to make sure you find the place to climb up the steep part to get to the top of the mesa... pretty easy in that one spot... recommend taking the secondary wash trail on the way back down... easier to descend through the loose rock

color me unimpressed!

Got lost the first time coming here and ended up scaling the mountain but second time we came prepared and knew you had to keep going up after the first scramble. Love this hike and the views at the top are so worth it. It gets really windy for a majority of the hike. There's a nice surprise at the summit where you find a flag and a box with some supplies and a notebook.

beautiful. there are a lot of things to explore off trail. just be careful not to disturb the fragile ground.

awesome pics

awesome walk

Just follow the trail listed with All Trails and you'll be good. There is a fence blocking the entrance because of the land owner of that small section. However everyone just ignores it and hikes around it. so worth seeing this beautiful rock feature.

Short stroll through history on top of Hoover Dam is worth the time . Good photo ops.

Short touristy walk across the Hoover Dam Bypass Bridge. Good photo op for Hoover Dam pics.

Ran from my campsite in kingman wash to the top and it’s a little over 9 miles if anyway wants to do it that way. But the hike is incredibly beautiful the whole time. It was windy like the description said but my dog and I welcomed that gladly. There is one sketchy spot where you have to climb up some boulders but my dog did it fine(he’s used to it). Just be careful

This is a great peak to bag when you are in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area. The ascent is steep and there is a little bit of Class 3 rock climbing at the very top of the plateau. Not ideal for those with a fear of heights. Don’t bring your dog unless your pet is athletic and confident hopping boulders.

Great and easy to walk

We spent 2 very tiring and frustrating days trying to find the trail for this hike. Yesterday, we explored the whole area only to find signs telling us to keep out and stay alive, and today more of the same. First and foremost, if the area is closed to the public, the park ranger should inform the public of same so folks don't waste their time! Also, if the owner is not allowing the public access to his or her property, it shouldn't be advertised to mislead people to believe this area is open to the public.

Not much of a hike, but the dogs liked it. Easy parking - well marked trail down to river. Mostly rocky shoreline. Probably not the best location for a family picnic. Good for a jaunt down to river and back. Some people fishing and said they have caught bluegill and bass. Lots of carp.

We attempted this trail yesterday only to find signs staying keep out and giving us a number to call. There were no trail markers and multiple roads that never seemed to lead in the right direction. We still had our own fun and explored the area since there were no workers on Sunday! Climbed a little and looked at the views and saw mountain goats! Hate we missed the narrows!

this trail is actually a well maintained Park road. if the park gate is open, you will need to pay for access, and you can drive a vehicle all the way to the end. personally I don't enjoy walking on maintained dirt roads, to each his own I guess. easy hike though, just watch out for vehicles as people tend drive fast on these roads.

Well worth the effort to get to this slot canyon - every turn is an incredible sight!

Kayaked from the dam to willow beach, great trip, took a lunch break at AZ side hot springs.

Really cool dam. The tour is really interesting.

Short walk to a great view of Hoover Dam.

It's a nice, short walk to the dam. Very enjoyable.

Starting from the Nevada side of the road that crosses over the dam is a free roadside parking area that allows you to park while you cross the Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge completed in 2010. Easy walk with fantastic views of Hoover Dam. 1905 feet long 880 feet above the Colorado River, the bridge is made of 30,000 cubic yards of concrete and 16,000,000 pounds of steel. An engineering feat, the bridge was completed using the original $240M budget. Spans from each side met in the middle within 9.5mm. Well-planned!

Wow what a view of Hoover Dam from above on the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. The trail goes from the Nevada side of the bridge to the Arizona side. This is another great way to see Hoover Dam.

Really good and fairly challenging hike. Great time. Trail gets a little loose but it is well worth it.

Did this last summer, toured the visitor center and then walked across dam. Worth the stop and nice diversion enroute between trails.

The view makes the uphill worth it! We took the ridge going up and wash down but thinking it may have been easier doing it the other way around.

Awesome hike which starts with a heavy slope the moment you step off. Last two pitches qualify as Class-3 climbs and a bit more if you shoulder two shepherds up the face to the summit...I did. Total time was 2:20hr and we finished the hike by cooling off in Lake Mead after the hike.

Walked across the Dam and even driven across before the bridge was completed. Even entered into the bowels on the tour. Great experience.
