Lots of broken glass on a very rocky trail. Tons of bugs. The trail is alright but there is no actual trail up to the arch. Since I went by myself I didn't venture off the trail up to the arch. It was nice to check it out but definitely not the greatest trail. Eh.

We went off the trail and scrambled up the back side of the mountain to reach the center of the true eagle eye. The views are worth steep scramble for sure!

We parked by cemetery and headed left on sand road which switches to a scree road. You go clockwise around mountain, then followed a dirt road to street for about 1/4 mile then climbed on the far right ATV path up a hill and aimed towards the US flag in the cemetery on the way down. The scenery could be beautiful if it wasn't of all the trash, broken bottles, bed frames and such!!

Very challenging but worth it. If you drive into the trailhead the round trip hike is 10.8 miles. We drove to the trailhead in a Honda CRV and had no trouble.

Very tough, very worth it. Trail head is 2 miles inland off highway 60, on a dirt road. You'll see a gate at mile marker 71 (there's also a palm tree on the opposite side of the highway). The road is easy to follow but I would highly suggest a high-clearance vehicle (I wouldn't have been comfortable in anything less than my 4WD truck). Once you pass the horse trailer parking, the trail head and registry are 0.4 miles further up the road. You'll know when you can't drive any further. Bring lots of water, and rain gear during the wet season!

A beautiful and challenging trail up the mountains from 2,000 feet to 5,600. The trail was well kept and easy to follow. Make a turn of hwy 60 between mile marker 70 and 71. A palm tree on the other side of the highway marks the entrance. The dirt road to the trailhead was rocky, my little volvo good, but I will bring a pick up next time. Fairly secluded, only about one hiker a day according to the registar. Being December it was cold and wind on the top.

This just became my favorite hike around Phoenix, make sure you add this one to your to-do list.
