Trail was beautiful, but close to the campgrounds and highway for the most parts.

on Phoneline Trail

This is a good hike for newcomers acclimating or visitors not content to stay on the tram, with nice views of lower Sabino Canyon.

Trail down from the fire watch tower is non-existent. Totally burned out and needs re-cut. Take the dirt road up instead.

Easy hike
Wonderful views

Hike Up from Sabino Visitor Center & tram down. Lovely shade along Phoneline in am.

Nice hike with good view

Hiked the loop at the beginning of March and saw one hummingbird. Did see deer and had an enjoyable and relaxing hike. Very nice escape to nature!!

Nice trail with good views

My wife and I hiked the trail on April 1, 2018, and we found the trail to be moderate to hard. There were a lot of areas damaged by the fire, which made it very hard to follow the trail. We had to climb over fallen trees and washed out areas. In some places, the trail was impossible to locate, and we were only navigating by GPS, but the views ARE stunning.

beautiful views all the way up. the trail is well defined but also a little rugged in spots to keep is interesting. it's worth noting my Garmin tracked it at just over 6 miles round trip. my hiking partners Fitbit tracked it at 6 as well

plan for about a 30 minute drive to the trailhead (starting when you enter Coronado). it's a pretty rough drive but my Chevy Cruze made it without much resistance.

definitely recommend

fun little walk to stretch your legs after the 27mi drive up. views are gorgeous. the drive enticed me to do so many more hikes along the way. i will be back.

March with Michael, took 70 minutes walking fast to get finished before sunset. Great panoramic views.

This was a great experience for someone used to hiking on the east coast! Took the tram to the end and hiked back on the phoneline. Just about 2 hours total and some great sights.

Great hike with lots of running water!!

Great hike. This was our second time using this trail. We also added in the mountain viewpoint trail & was not disappointed although this part of the trail is steeper & a bit harder to navigate with some of the rock "steps". The view is worth it though. We stopped to catch our breath a few times.
Did this with two teens & a dachshund.

Great hike for me and my two small dogs. The views are incredible you forget you’re so close to the highway.

This trail was great. The views were pretty spectacular going into th canyon. I've only done a few hikes in Tucson so far but this one is my favorite.

We hiked around the entire lake today, 2.87 or 2.97 miles according to my friends GPS tracker., I think entire hike only took a couple of hours, maybe slightly longer. The first half of the trail was pretty easy. After we crossed the dam it got a little trickier, definitely some slippery spots with lots of loose rocks, etc. We (4 adults, 2 large dogs), found our way around the entire lake staying near the shore. The trail was mostly easy to see & follow. The water level was quite low, I’m not sure we would’ve been able to do this if water level had been higher. Though our dogs did great & loved the adventure there were times we had to send one adult ahead, release the dog to manage the terrain on their own & then the other adult would follow. Maybe other hikers are used to this but we weren’t so I’m not sure I would recommend this hike with dogs & I definitely wouldn’t take younger children on the 2nd half of this hike. All in all we really enjoyed the hike & it was beautiful.

I did this yesterday. I would say that it is only rated moderate due to the length of the trail. As for the actually difficulty of the hiking, it is an easy trail. February was the perfect time to go with weather in the 70’s. Beautiful views.

A fun moderate hike. Take the $10 tram ride into Sabino Canyon and then hike out Phoneline trail. There are great city and canyon views. There are some slippery rocks and during certain times of the year there are water crossings. A great trail!

Amazing trail for the average hiker. Its almost 10 miles long and depending on your average speed between 1, 2 or 3 miles per hour will give you a clue to how long it takes. It took me 5 hrs with a few stops along the way to enjoy the views while laying back and eating a 1/2 of a peanut butter sandwich at a time. Amazing views that should not be taken for granted and enjoyed as long as you can. I carried 2.5 liters of water.

this is not a trail it is just an unimproved, rocky road. great for turning ankles.

I found the trail head, but the path was so overgrown I couldn't really tell if I was following a trail or just walking aimlessly into the desert...

I hiked Mount Lemmon trail #5 first to turn this into a loop. It takes you to an amazing fire lookout cabin built on a high rock. The views clear into Mexico are breathtaking!.There's also quartz all over in the dirt that makes it shimmer.

Great trail. The first climb off the tram road may be a bit tough for less frequent hikers, but overall this is a pretty laid back and relaxing hike. It was a bit crowded, but the deeper in you get the crowds thin out.

It was a great short hike for our family group of mixed hiking abilities. My 9-year old was able to enjoy the views along with our elder members. We all enjoyed the vastly different biome from our desert floor home. Deserving of its “Easy” designation.

Great hike. Some areas were narrow with loose gravel on the edges. Lots of shade in the majority of the hike while in the canyons. Beautiful views and lots of areas to hear echoes if traveling with young children. My 7 year old did this hike and was fine. Beginning was a bit of an incline but after that it was a nice decent to the main roadways. Nice and cool in the mornings.

Very Easy and nice views!
