Take the off road trail, it’s a little longer but well worth it. The hike is not terribly hard, as many said, but the top is a little tricky. I had a 2.5 year old on me & am 4 months pregnant and was able to navigate. Seriously GO EARLY. Since it’s so popular there are tons of people and many who do not respect the basic customs and courtesies of hiking, which gets extremely frustrating when trying to navigate the more award parts. Some parts are not clearly marked so it’s easy to get off trail a little but it helped to expose some extra views.

Great views and great way to break away from technology!

Awesome! Not too difficult. Well worth the view!!!

Great trail! Not too difficult and the view is definitely worth it.

Amazing views!

Found this trail to be pretty difficult. Path finding is difficult and the trail is extremely easy to loose. Over half the hike is was large periodically loose river rock which made hiking with a heavier pack slow and rough on the ankles. Only standing pools infested with mosquitos were found. The whole hike was worth it for the beautiful red rock surroundings and abundant greenery. Its a difficult one so be prepared to bring ample water.

Still snow at the top of Abineau. Hard to connect to the rest of the trail.

hard but good trail, great view on top

Beautiful hike. Go really early to get a good parking spot. We got there just before 7am and were back to the car by 9:30am. It was packed when we came back. The hike gets a little tricky near the end, but it’s definitely doable and very rewarding. Can’t describe how amazing the view is. Also, the bridge is a lot wider then you think, so just enjoy it. Highly recommend.

So incredible! The hike is not too long, and the views are nothing like we’ve seen of Sedona. We will definitely want to do this again. Near the end the climb is pretty steep, but going on the actual Devil’s bridge seems scary but is so fun!

It was a great trail that gave you a fantastic view of the rocks up close. You would go up very narrow and steep stairs, but the top was the best view!

Easy hike for us. We are of moderate fitness. We started at mescel parking. It took us about 40-50 minutes to get to the bridge. We started at 3pm and we got to the bridge there was only one other couple there. Didn’t see any snakes, unfortunately!!

Just do it as much early during the day for the bridge view

Nice trail slight incline/decline near the trailhead. Very relaxing and quiet very little man made noises. Near the end there are some caves to explore. Also watch for snakes came across a few on my last hike

To echo other reviewers: start from Mescal trailhead and enjoy the nice hike to the Devils Bridge trail rather than walking on the road. Yes, this is super popular but for a reason. This is overall an easy trail but requires some agility towards the end. Saw many dogs and children. We did run into a large snake but it was not a rattlesnake.

Far and away my favorite home in Sedona yet. I'm average at hiking, so this trail was ABSOLUTELY a challenge for me, but totally worth it. Take food and water.... you'll likely need several breaks.

Definitely rated “hard” for a reason. Bring plenty of water! Beautiful hike with AMAZING views!

It was a scenic little hike. It was fairly easy for the kids (they didn’t swim it was pretty crowded) the only negative was the wait to get in to the park to park.

Decent hike, great swimming hole! Not bad if you hike regularly but we saw a few people that had issues with the heat, water, and didn’t get all the way back to the water. Swim shoes would be a good suggestion but not required. I did not use any. Don’t forget to reapply sun screen before you leave!!! Lol

We did this hike today and love the view on the top.

Did this hike on May 10, 2018. 4 adults physically fit. Once you get to the hangover, I would highly recommend doing the loop in a clockwise direction. Also know that this should not be labeled as Moderate. It should be listed as Hard. It’s very long 8.7 miles, and today was hot (93 degrees), not a lot of shade, steep climbing (even scrambling in a few areas), and in several areas you are “hanging over” narrow ledges. If you have a fear of heights this hike is probably not for you. Bring lots of water!! The top today was very windy with gusts around 40+mph.

We did Bear Mountain 3 days ago, so I feel the rating of hard should be placed on this hike as well. I personally thought Bear was just as challenging as the Hangover (just not as steep).

Overall, this hike is excellent and offers the best views on any hike in Sedona, of Sedona! Total hike time from Munds Trail parking doing Hangover and Cow pies was 3 1/2 hours. We moved pretty fast. I’d do it again.

Great hike but very hot! Some shade depending on time of day, but worth every minute once you jump into that water. Wow so much fun.

This was one of my favorites when I still lived in AZ! It's been a long time, but I loved coming out here to do some cliff jumping and cool off from some of that AZ heat. Definitely a fun area, make sure you bring PLENTY + some extra water.

Great hike, very scenic and not too difficult. That sun though, bring ample water. There is some trees for shade which is nice. We were there on a Wednesday in early May, there were only 4 cars in the lot around 1PM. But the lot is not suitable for RVs/Vehicles over 20ft. We parked our 25ft RV about a mile up the road by the Sedona Dog Park and walked to the trailhead. Not too bad. With the walk to the RV and the trail, plus stops for photos, took us about 3 hours.

Moderate to easy other than last 500 meters which was technical.

The views from the vistas are amazing. Nice climb to get your blood pumping!

This is a full on cardio, thigh, and knee workout.! The white paint markings make this navigable. You do need to pay attention not to get off the trail. Lots of scrambling with 4 separate climbs of 400-500 feet each. If you are not in “good physical shape”, you will not be able to do this hike to the top. Looking for challenge this is the hardest trail hike in Sedona. Took my wife and I, 5 hours round trip with a 20 minute lunch break at the top.

Great hike. Took the reviewers advice below and started at Mescal trail head. There was way more parking and the 1 mike hike to the bridge trail was scenic and (more) shady. Awesome views.

This trail is great with lots of shade! Make sure you climb up the rocks at the end - that’s the best part of the hike! (Not a difficult climb at all if you are able-bodied, in fact I would hardly even call it a climb). The view through the canyon at the end is stunning.

Parking was a challenge. Trail Head was hard to see at first, but trail was clearly marked once we were on it. Hike was great though, through the trees then out onto a beautiful view. Busy day in Sedona, but ran into only one other person.
