Beautiful, sometimes challenging hike. Well worth the effort. Be prepared to climb up some steep sections in the 2nd half of the hike. The views are incredible!!

As some others have suggested, we parked at the Mescal Trailhead parking lot and took Mescal > Chuck Wagon > Devil's Bridge. Make sure you take the correct Mescal trail as we accidentally took the trail going away from Devil's Bridge for the first 20 minutes before realizing our mistake. Look for the map and the trail marker stating Mescal to Devil's Bridge. Round trip with time for pictures at the top it took about 2 hrs and 15 min. The trail is mostly flat except with some steep steps at the top. It is much easier than the scrambling at Cathedral Rock.

Absolutely stunning views of the bridge at the end of the trail.

This trail was pretty short and took us around 25 minutes to reach the top. There is a good bit of scrambling that was really fun, but that could also be challenging if you didn't have the proper shoes. The views at sunset were incredible!! We headed down about 20 minutes before the sun actually set so that we weren't hiking down in the dark. Definitely a quick hike with a great reward at the end!

This was a moderately hard trail for us, mainly due to the distance and the heat! Gorgeous views, and the water was amazing! Cold but it feels super refreshing after the 3.5 mile trek. My husband and I both brought a camel pack and an additional hydro flask so we had enough water for us and our dog... warming if you are bringing a dog. It’s pretty hot for them. There is an area where the trail is black... if burned our dogs feet and we had to carry her on the way back. She has been on several hikes before, and has tough feet... so beware of that part. The rest of the trail isn’t too hot on the ground but that crumbled black rock was no good!

Be prepared to climb! Was definitely a challenge but definitely worth it. Great views through out the hike. Took us just over 3 hours

Great trail. Not too difficult and the views are simply amazing.

Beautiful trail with manageable level of difficulty

Beautiful hike! Highly recommend!! Do not take dogs, I saw a few lay down and unable to walk back, sad.

Beautiful views!

Scramble halfway up was difficult for me, but I live almost at sea level. Worth the hassle. Just keep going! You’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view!

Beautiful views, very steep towards the top. long walk to get to trailhead but was fun. watch out for cactus, I lost footing and fell I to a bush and ouchie! Easy run down :)

May 16th 2018. Yes the road is rough and narrow going in but totally worth it. The aspen are not quite yet fully leafed out and wildflowers haven't arrived but still a great hike and absolutely beautiful!! The elevation will leave you gasping for breath if you're not used to it - 9780 at the meadow - but it's a steady climb and never steep so just take it slow and enjoy the scenery.

Awsome, easy hike. Gorgeous views at chicken point (end of broken arrow). Recommend doing it. Do it early as it gets busy and there isn't too many parking spots

Steep trip up but the vistas at the top are great.

The southwest point of Mescal Mountain is a fantastic place to watch a sunset over the valley.

This was our first hike when we arrived in Sedona. We decided to go in the evening and made it to the top before sunset. It was a pretty tough hike for 1 mile, but the views at the top were amazing!! Well worth it and a must hike when you are in Sedona.

This trail was way better than I expected it to be. Planned for just a quick and easy down and back. But this hike got 10x better when we climbed up the rocks at the end of the trail. At the top we followed a small path that went deeper into the canyon to where you are high enough to see above the growth and down the canyon for some Awesome views!! Was very quiet and peaceful and ended up being one of our favorite hikes in our time here in Sedona. Highly recommend.

Amazing!

One of the best red rock hikes you can do, great views at the top!

This was a pretty good hike. We drove our Outback a little ways on the 4WD road, finally parked it, and walked the rest of the way. Not too many ATVs or other vehicles driving past and when they did, they weren’t going super fast. We had our 22 pound dog with us and he enjoyed the hike as well. It did get pretty steep up near the top and we actually ended up carrying him a ways because he got scared and we didn’t want him to bolt and jump off. Once at the top, we did have to wait in line for our chance on the arch but it wasn’t too bad. We went around 9:30am and by the time we were done there was a huge influx of new hikers on the trail. Recommend going early to beat the crowd. Well worth the hike as the views from the top are gorgeous!

FYI: I was planning on hiking this trail over memorial weekend but just received an email that they are closing this area on Wed May 23, 2018 due to wild fires. Anyone who have bought a permit will be refunded. Will plan to go again when they reopen.

This was a great and challenging hike. We decided to take the Chuck Wagon Trail the whole way to the back Devil's Bridge parking lot from the Dry Creek car parking lot. This added at least a mile but it was gentle terrain, both up an down, and avoided the sand and rocks of the Dry Creek Road (upon which we returned). In hindsight, if we'd have had the time we'd probably do the Chuck Wagon part in both directions. You can go on Chuck Wagon to about half way up Dry Creek and then take the road the rest of the way to the beginning of the Devil's Bridge Trail. Or you can continue on Chuck Wagon until one end of it exits at the parking lot.

The hike from the 4WD parking lot seemed longer than 0.7 miles (what they have posted). The beginning is a gentle upward incline but it gets steeper as you get farther along. The stone stairs are steep and there are 2 sets of them. But we did see some elderly people on this hike so if you're careful and take your time and are used to doing some walking, you can make it.

The views are gorgeous, as are most views from Sedona trails, in my opinion. The arch itself was fun to walk on and to take photos from. We went later in the afternoon so I only had to wait for 2 people ahead of me before I got my turn on the arch. We had our large dog with us and he had no trouble with the terrain or distance. However, even if it's not a hot day (as today was not), take plenty of water as the Devil's Bridge trail is fairly exposed and it can get windy too (Chuck Wagon Trail has more shade)

Easy hike, with a great payoff at the end. Take the time to explore around inside the caldera, and see it from different vantage points. Trail is pretty exposed midday, but there are pines at the end - good place to have a snack and cool off.

This hike was sublime and completely worth it. It had some steep sections near the top but was not too difficult at all, though may be difficult for people who aren’t used to hiking/physical activity. The mile long road from the parking area was boring and dusty, and there were ATVs going by every other minute, but I think there was an offshoot trail called Chuckwagon that would bypass this. I would try that next time to avoid all the cars. The mile-ish hike up to the bridge was beautiful and the views were more and more spectacular as you climbed. People waited in line to take photos, but it wasn’t overly crowded at 5pm when we were up there.

Nice hike, we were doing this hike as a second hike in the day. we had one in the morning and this one was scheduled for afternoon. We started late afternoon around 4pm. It took us less than 2 hours up and just above 1 hour back. Came back just at the sunset. It was actually good time of the day, because the majority of the time we were walking in the shade.

Great hike. Awesome ending. Steady moderately easy hike.

Great hike with plenty of challenges and change in elevation. Good markings and trail easy to follow - highly recommended for a nice workout!

Loved the hike. The start of this hike could be a little tough mainly because it can be challenging walking in the sand but once you pass that part, the rest of the hike is easy IMHO. We finished the hike in 2 Hours and that includes the 45 or so minutes we spent at the top taking photos. We visited first thing in the morning in November and had the place to ourselves for a good 15 minutes. The views as is obvious in the pictures are awesome. This hike is a must on your Sedona/Arizona itinerary.

This 1 mile hike is great and the views from the top looking into the valley even better. The hikes is not half as daunting as so many reviews state. As long as you are ok with a little bit of scrambling, you should be ok. The hike itself is not hard but the scrambling makes it interesting and sometimes challenging. But the views are super rewarding. We finished the hike in 2 hours including the hour we spent up top taking in the view and tons of pictures.

Easy walk down the path but the scramble up near the end is worth the effort. Light in the morning (around 9) was great. Very peaceful and beautiful at the top. If I made it up and down, most can!
