Great area to explore 100 year old historical dam site built in 1923. One of the first steel reinforced concrete dams build in US. There is no water there as it was built to protect from unseasonably high rain periods. A new earth dam was built below the old dam in 1979.

This dam seldom gets visited. This dam was built in 1923 and was one of the first concrete reinforced dams designed by John Samuel Eastwood. There is a paved road part of the way, no motorized vehicles allowed, to the dam. A good link with more photos and information is located at: http://darrensrides.blogspot.com/2010/02/cave-creek-dam.html

With the desert in full bloom, made for some beautiful scenery.

Love this trail in particular. Little climb to the lookout and a fast downhill. Great addition to Sonoran north adventure

This was a fun trail to walk on. You have beautiful, desert views all around. Easy trail, with some climbing involved as you ascend to the top. Friendly people, plenty of parking and multi use trails for all. Highly recommend this trail for a short get-away from the city.
