Really fun moderate hike. I took my time and took lots of pictures along the way and it took me about 3 hours to hike to the pools and back. Went late in the afternoon and timed it so the sun was setting while I was making my way down the rocky part of the hike - just gorgeous. It starts out pretty flat, then the last half is mostly up and this is the fun part! I would recommend shoes with some ankle support as there is uneven terrain. The path is well maintained and the pools, though small, were still neat to see in the middle of the desert.

Great loop trail. Usually have great watering holes after monsoon or snowmelt. If you want less people than Canyon Loop trail- this is the one, similar distance and good vistas.

We started at Catalina state park and when we reached the Sabino Canyon split we chose to take Phone line trail out, instead of the tram/pavement road and that’s why we clocked in 23.4 miles. From Catalina parking lot to the peak we clocked in 8 miles not 7 like the app said. I recommend to refill at Romero pools if you start at Catalina because the next water stop is not until Hutches pools. From Romero to Cathedral rock trail is a little bit over grown but still visible and plenty of camping areas at Cathedral. We chose to hike out to Hutches pools for water. From Catalina to Hutches pools 14 miles. Hutches pools has a few good spots to camp, we hiked about 200-300ft NW up to rock face off the left side off the creek and found a good spot where you could hear the water running. Great for sleeping to that sound! Stunning views and a great trail. Highly recommend it.

Gorgeous views and vistas. Visiting from Utah and were amazed by the desert scenery, flora, and fauna. Perfect day hike. Great workout but not too difficult. Made it to the pools. They were pretty low and stagnant, but still lovely to see the water in the dry, desert climate. Hardly anyone on the trail. Every twist and turn brought a new view and different vegetation. Must do if you’re in the area!

I love this hike. I decided to test my new ACLs and see if the were up to some elevation. Did not go all the way to the pools, but made it 2 miles in from parking lot. My turn around was the saddle before you turn a little north and go down over the ridge. For me the hardest part is the first mile, crossing the wash and climbing out of it. It makes my lungs burn. Haha!

Gorgeous hike. Was more strenuous than I anticipated. Would encourage ankle supporting boots rather than hiking shoes. Sun intensity and rocky terrain was a factor for this Georgia hiker. That said, wonderful hike and very much enjoyed it.

Wonderful. Lost the trail briefly before finding the Alamo Canyon Loop. Where Alamo Canyon is crossed the canyon plunged down. Spectacular view. I am glad I did the trail in this direction.

Wonderful hike interrupted by notice of smoke and burglary alarms going off at home. Apparently false alarms.

No shade at the switchbacks, bring lots of water. Trail had lots of hikers on it and a few were at the pools. Started around 9:30am. Pools had water in them but only a trickle for water flow

Pretty steep but worth the trip. Pack light, for sure.

more like hard!! and the hike to the pools not worth it. Poole were yucky and green.

beautiful trail. a bit of an incline to get started that I was not expecting as it was my first day starting hikes, so would recommend good knees to get back down but it was positively beautiful! completely surrounded by mountains and great scenery. of course, you have to pay a fee to get in the park though, so not able to go to often.

Hiked this trail in its entirety from Catalina State Park to where it meets MT Lemmon trail then took Mt Lemmon trail to the Observatory. After about 4 miles or so in the trail becomes anything but “moderate”. Very steep inclines with 40% + grades the rest of the way. No official trail markings only piles of rocks other hikers have left to help indicate the trail. Lost the trail several times. Certainly not a trail for the inexperienced. Bring as much water as you can carry. This app helped a lot when we lost the trail so be sure to bring lots of battery charge as by about 6-7 miles in the trail is nearly impossible to find.

Nice hike, beautiful scenery, go early in the morning, we are planning go again.

This was a 2 day hike for me. Since I brought a filter, I filled up at Hutches pool and Romero pool. Going from Sabino Canyon to Catalina, there are some really good camp spots (flat areas with a fire pit and a log to sit on) about 1 mile after Hutches Pool and 1 mile after Romero Pass.

A major scramble down hill on the way back. Very hot, bring water. Beautiful!

First try I will be back!!

We got a late start so this trail was perfect. Lots of shade, with the temp around 90° it was great. Found a bench in the shade and had lunch. We're new to hiking so this was perfect. No water at this time. Can't wait to get back and hike the other trails.

So beautiful! Not too hard but amazing views and so fun! Definitely recommend.

This was an amazing trail but definitely should be rated difficult! Beautiful views and when the season is right plenty of waterfalls. The trail deserves plenty of water and electrolytes!

This hike was a beautiful view and trail. Definitely going back.

It was a great hike but easy to get turned around. Gonna do it again soon.

Dogs are not allowed on the trail to Romero Pools.

This is one of my favorite trails. Pusch Ridge is beautiful. If you like more of a rocky hike, this one is fun. Only a little water at the pools today.
