Trail closed about 1/2 mile in "until November 1" (whatever that means). However, if you do continue, there is little fire damage for the first couple miles, then it gets progressively worse, nothing that bad where its hard to tell if the overgrown/downed trees are from the fire or were there already. 1 mile before the pass the overgrowth is quite bad, with thorned plants a plenty.

Short trail through the lower burn zone. Incredible views of the mountains. We started around noon and there was very limited shade due to the burned trees. Still pretty interesting.

Nice long trail, the navigation was funky near the end. Follow the bridal trail instead of going through the campground.

Great workout on the way up. Cairns are super helpful to guide the way. They disappear though for about a mile after you reach the top. Had to rely on the app then. Path is relatively easy to follow after that.

This trail will walk you through some of the areas burnt from the Bighorn Fire. Part of the trail was consumed by fire, some was not so it’s an interesting hike.

This was the best trail we have took on in Tucson. We came in from Wisconsin and had done the Bear Canyon trail to 7 falls yesterday. Even though that one is double in mileage this hike trumps that in difficulty. You’re going up virtually the whole hike meaning steep cliffs and challenging terrain. The Romero pools at the end so rewarding and fun. All I can say is start early and most importantly bring a buttload of water

Recommend starting no later then 7am. I went through 4 liters of water and ran out half way back.

The first half of this trail was fairly easy to follow using rock cairns and a lot of fun to the top. The loop trail coming down was very poorly marked causing us to backtrack quite a few times. This trail is recommended for experienced hikers/climbers. Be sure to take plenty of snacks a water!

My friends and I decided to do the Romero Pools yesterday. I would recommend to do this early in the morning and to bring lots of water cause there was no shade. However arriving to the destination was totally worth it. The water felt really nice and it was still running and we had a great time overall.

Overgrown grass and very little signs to keep you on the trail.

Not particularly challenging, I encountered a vast array of skill levels from children to elderly folks on this trail. Not easy, but doable for many. At the end you will be rewarded with a little desert oasis. Plenty of spots with running water to chill and find some privacy. I went at 7 AM on Memorial Day, and it wasn’t too busy. Will be back again!

Good amount of water at the top. Refreshing in the hot AZ air. Gets hot quick here. Start early and bring extra water. Good sturdy shoes are almost a must with rocks.

This is our favorite Tucson hike. 5.4 miles, 3 hour easy, out and back. If you make the drive to the trailhead in the early morning (we parked at 7 AM), the sun hitting the saguaro cacti is breathtaking.
