Great trip. It is long if you do not have a vehicle set up for off road. Perfect for a jeep and for someone just getting into off-roading. It was a 5 hr trip when combining Crown King from the I17.

Requires a standard SUV or Jeep especially on northern half of the Senator Hwy. Rocky in some places and sometimes deep water crossings depending on time of year.

Nice ride, a good bit of snow along the route with a number of snow runoff pools forming to ride through. Slick and muddy in spots. Prescott to Crown King.

Thinking there was just a bit of dirt road we were on a quest to get from Walker to Senator Hiway. Very beautiful drive. We wished our Tahoe was a smaller vehicle at times and the muddy road conditions added to the excitement. Glad we made the trek. We were surprised to see so many homes tucked back in those mountains. Not exactly and easy ride to get a quart of milk!

We drove Senator Hwy from Prescott (from Lynx Lake/Walker Rd) to Crown King Rd to Bumble Bee this past weekend. This track is also listed in the book "Guide to Arizona Backroads & 4-Wheel-Drive Trails, 2nd Ed.) and is rated as "Easy" meaning you could pass it with a stock SUV, however, we know trail conditions change all the time, and we experienced a wash-out that required some light rock-climbing, low-gear 4WD and higher clearance was a plus. I attached a picture for reference. Sorry, we didn't get the exact coordinates. Overall, a very nice drive with a few ruts and some muddy areas - I would highly recommend it. 4.5 hours is about right if you take it easy.

Love this trail. you get a little bit of everything. My GPS wasn't working right so I apologize for the skew I left from Prescott Valley then Came down from Crown King to Mayer. It finally picked up at just the right spot leaving Prescott off Gurly onto Senator Hwy. This trail takes you through Pines and woods with beautiful scenery especially this time of the year "Fall". The tress are turning and you get awesome colors.
The trail was still being worked on in some areas after the last rains. It's an amazing job what everyone has done to get this trail back into shape after fires and floods. Has some tight corners here and there but passable. Check out the Photos See if you can spot the DEER !!!!!
