The perfect challenge! Trekking poles made it easier both going up and coming down. It was very windy at the top, so consider this when deciding to hike. Enough people that I didn’t feel too wary of bears. I’ll do this one again for certain.

So fun! Be prepared to scramble up some rocks towards the top. Very crowded the day we went.

Very easy, no climb. Beautiful scenery. A nice walk, I’d take visitors or folks not used to vigorous hikes for sure.

Legs are on fire, wonderful hike. We were not able to reach the top because of high wind.

Saw a black bear about 100 yards from the entrance on my way out today. Saw it twice...or it might have been two different bears. Not especially curious but not especially frightened of me. Walk itself is muddy and buggy but easy and beautiful. Couldn’t get to the falls because of private property. But a good trail.

Great trail for the whole family. Very scenic and long enough to feel like you've gotten in a good amount of activity. Take a small snack to chow while enjoying the lake before turning back toward the trailhead. Can be a bit windy at the lake so bring sleeves if you plan to take in the scenery. On the right day you will see sheep toward the lake. Moose are often nearby. We love this trail!

BEAUTIFUL! One of my first Anchorage experiences...

Recommend being prepared for ground conditions though, to feel a little less nervous about the climb up. :D

Great hike. The right fork is a bit more steep but I enjoyed going up that way and taking the left fork down by the abandoned house and pond. Lots of dogs and people on the trail.

It was a good hike, although lake was still frozen.

Early morning hike was beautiful and challenging. If you are looking for a challenging hike that doesn't require any special equipment this is great. Bring water and good shoes. I imagine the view is spectacular but for me it was a very cloudy climb. Still ominous and exciting though.

Don't give up,,good leg work out

Easy yet a trail that satisfies for spectacular views.

Would definitely do this hike again and give ourselves more time to explore up top.

Maintained trail was clear and dry. Still a snow field between the end of the trail and the glacier itself. Beautiful sunny day, lots of families with small kids and dogs. Easy walk with a snowball fight at the end!

Went yesterday. Steady uphill incline for first half then flattens out till the lake. Still snow along Trail but packed pretty well to walk across. Lots of water/ mud along trail so be ready to get wet and dirty. Lake still frozen but a beautiful view regardless.

The sans one star is how heavily trafficked it is. When I was going up as I was climbing, someone tried to go down and ended up falling down a bit where all loose rocks ended up hitting my direction barely missing my head. I should have looked up and measure caution of hikers who are coming down. Also I was a bit disappointed to find lots of cig butts and litter in the area. However the VIEW is ahhhmazing- a well deserving treat after your hard work climbing upwards! Lots of tourists are hiking so a heads up! I would suggest those who are unsure about climbing the last 100 feet to look at other hikers and study their path to make best call for your route.

I love the views all along the trail. It’s a difficult hike especially near the top but it’s totally doable if you have functional arms and functional legs.

Beautiful day. Not too hot. The trail follows the twin peaks trail but once you get to the second bench is where the trail starts to get to the peak. It was a challenge since we had 50lb packs on for training. We also did some impromptu self rescue training since there was still a pretty good snow patch off to the side of the trail about 4900 elevation. And at around that elevation we dropped our packs and headed up to the peak. There was some scrambling to get there but not bad at all.

There is no trail called pepper peak. It looks like it was an old trail but according to the trail map this hike does not exist.

Went with my 4 year old and 11 month old and it was great! There were some spots that were not as nice but overall it was a lot of fun and that view up top was just beautiful!

Beautiful day!! Lake still frozen . Easy hike

Great walk! Not a hike at all so I would say anyone can do it. The glacier is significantly melted but there’s still snow to walk on. Went on a Thursday around 4 and t was pretty well trafficked but again, hiking alone so it was nice.

My husband and I hiked this for the first time on Saturday, June 2nd. It was hot and sunny and the trail was busy! We took the "difficult" trail to the right, and for us, it wasn't difficult, it just had a lot of rough stairs and was fairly steep so I would rate that section as moderate. There is a flat section between the trail and the rocky ascent to the top that makes for a nice break area, or to call it quits for those who aren't into the rest of the hike to the flag, and the true "flat top". The section that leads to the top is steep and rocky. There are some sketchy areas that took some decision making to determine which route to take (this section is definitely a climb and I would rate it as difficult). It takes some amount of strength and agility and the lack of fear of heights to get through the rocky part. Once on top it is flat and you can walk around quite a ways and even meander to other trails. It took us about 2 hours and 40 minutes round trip (car to car) with a lot of time for picture taking and exploring once we were at the top. Anyone in average shape could easily go up and then straight back down in 2 hours or less. And the views are great from all areas of the trail, so even if you don't want to go all the way to the top, you will still be able to enjoy the view!

The loose rocks on the west face are a little scary but a great and close by hike!

Loved the hike, my wife made it halfway at a rest. Definitely not a beginner hike. But it was an amazing view!

Easy trail! Beautiful scenery and so wonderful to hear all the birds singing!

Great hike! Pretty easy until you near the summit, and then it turns to a scramble. Really great views at the top.

Pretty popular hike with lots of others on the trail. Starts off pretty easy at least until you get to blueberry hill and then the elevation starts gaining, there’s a few set of stairs before the saddle. The end of the trail is like a rock climb and it’s hard to find out where the easiest path is to follow. We watched a few people go before us and that helped us to know where to go! The view at the top is awesome. Definitely need to do this hike at least once.

Starts off pretty easy but get tougher as you go. The last leg is almost rock climbing but is definitely do able. Amazing view from the top.
