I used to guide backpacking trips on this trail when I was 18 and 19 (32 now!) The full hike was amazing, yes mosquitos, yes cold at night, yes very rainy- but totally worth it for the pristine wilderness and waterfall (see my b and w photo) hoping to go back next year and do this trail again :)

IWe were just talking to the falls really and back. Got on trail late in the day. First Mile or so was pleasant but a bit of Muck in places. Next came halfway decent trail but muck and snow - you know the bit of snow that’s left over real packed down right on the trail.

As we get near the falls and started getting colder and more snow and I post-holed once or twice.

It was a nice shakedown hike for the beginning of the season.

forest service cabins make this a great trip in not so perfect weather. great spots for tent camping. the middle part from devils creek to east creek is my favorite

Biking today - beautiful weather great sunshine! Rode up about 4 miles saw a few bear scats and two overnight bear sleeping areas. Decided to play it safe and not venture too far. Trail design seem used as much this year as last year - after 2 miles a lot of overgrown brush and narrow path.

This is a wonderful mellow trail with some elevation gain. Currently, 7/15/17, the trail leads comfortably to the lake (~3mi). At the lake, the trail continues but is very bushy and raw. Enjoy!!

Definitely one of my favorite trails! This trail has worked as a fantastic warm up before meeting up with friends for a more relaxed hike/bike.

easy-going trail. no animals other than a squirrel

Loved this trail so much. We were able to rent a few cabins along the way and tented it the rest of the time. I was able to do this hike on a broken leg over 4 days (it was broken before the hike) without issues. Highly suggest it. Great views.

This was a nice trail, although we had patches of snow! We only went 8 miles because I had kids with me and they could only handle getting to the bridge!

Hiked this July 2013 and it was extremely grown over. Lots of bushwhacking and a billion mosquitoes. Beautiful spots to camp, plus successful lake fishing. We camped at one of the sites near the lake. Didn't go the full 20 miles but did about 9 miles round trip. Recommend!

My family and I hiked this trail last year with friends of ours. There was lots of vegetation and easy to get that "get lost in the woods" feel. We enjoyed Geocaching along the way and the view along the trail.

I hiked this trail October1, 2016. My GPS measured it as 3.75 miles to the near edge of the lake. it was an overcast day, but very calm when I arrived. I got some fantastic reflection pictures because the water was so calm. I hiked about half way to the other end of the lake, and found several good vantage points for photos. The weather started to change, so I turned back at the point where the trail met a large Boulder face. This was elevated and had a view of a water cascade on the opposite side. Not many people on the trail at this time of year, very pleasant.

Nice hike, 5.7 mi one-way from the trailhead. Mixed terrain. Beautiful views of Cook Inlet and Turnagain Arm. Easy hike for some. Moderate hike for others.

Nice hike, but my prior review needs correction.....the hike from new trailhead parking (before campground) is 11.7 miles round trip, and takes about 5 hours.

The trailhead parking for this hike has been moved outside the campground which has added distance, elevation, and time to the hike. Gull Rock hike is now 13.5 miles and takes about five and a half hours (round trip).

Wife, daughter and I walked two miles in and two out and enjoyed these trails. We walked and got to see a couple different environments of grass and berries to wooded area. It is a nice and easy trail and easily visible to follow and stay on.

Felt longer than 5 miles each way. Nice hike along the coast. Not big elevation changes but great views and a good trail. Sometimes overgrown. Great camping spots at the end.

Great trail. It was 6.5 miles up Crescent Creek to the West end of the lake. Nice views.

Trail is moderate with some AMAZING views. Not much elevation. The lake is beautiful but be sure to pack some bugs spray.

A very pretty hike done on a very pretty day. Easier coming out, as it in mainly downhill. I overnighted at the lake and watched a gorgeous sunrise. With a 40 lb pack and my dog, it took us 2 hours to hike in and 1.5 hours to hike out.

We didn't go all the way, only about 2 miles out and back, but it's a fairly easy trail. We went in mid spring and there was an avalanche blocking the path so that was fun to go over.

Nice flat hike. Not to challenging, but that last mile back to the campground seemed a lot longer than it did headed out.

A long, but easy multi-day trip. The trail is well maintained. I stayed with a group of 5-9 people in various cabins along the way from the Hope trailhead to Cooper's Landing. That is definitely the better direction to go, as the terrain and camping/cabin locations become more interesting. All of the Cabins were in excellent repair, but Devil's Pass cabin and Juneau Lake cabin are in stunning locations. We spread the hike over 6 days, averaging about 7-8 miles per day (It can be done at a moderate pace in 3 days).

Did this over Memorial Day weekend with a couple of friends. We started in Hope and went to Cooper Landing. The trail is very well marked for an Alaskan trail. We camped at East Creek and Falls creek campsites. Both are nice with bear boxes and are right beside the creek for water.

Hiked this trail on a snowy Easter Sunday, 2015. Gorgeous. Birds singing all along the creek. Snow on the pines.
