Up to the peak and back. Crampons used as slippery and at times deep snow . Beautiful views!! Layer— that wind is brutal!

2019.11.03 I followed a different route than shown which began by taking a trail south of the parking lots. This takes you to a the lower reaches of Rendezvous Ridge. You can then follow the Rendezvous Ridge trail to the peak and back for a total distance of 3.5 miles and 1,800' in elevation gain. The views of the Ship Creek curling around the base of Temptation Peak towards Indian are exceptional. The quick nature of this hike made it more taxing, but worth it. While Anchorage was shrouded in fog today, it dissipated at the trailhead. It was sunny with some cloud cover, temps in the mid-to-upper 20° range. Occasional 20mph gusts on the ridge. Walking along the scoured ridgeline, the snow is only a few inches deep and crisp underfoot. There are stretches where the snow has been blown away and left a thin icy layer behind, warranting the use of microspikes. Once I connected to the ridge, I had the sun on me for the rest of the way up. You will experience strong gusts on the ridge, so be prepared for that. If we get another load of snow, I would advise crampons/gaiters or snowshoes if you attempt this trail. I'd imagine it would be a great hike to tackle in the summer, though you will find no water on this trail.

I did this trail after a few days of very heavy rain, so I expected mud and washouts. The first part of the trail is a series of steep switchbacks followed by some rock jumping creek crossings. After that it opens up into the valley and evens out. The hike in was foggy and the views were obscured but I did see a fog rainbow (fogbow?). I went on to Crescent Lake, worth it, short, do it. The fog lifted on my way back and I saw a couple small avalanches occurring up on the higher slopes. Overall, my best hike of the fall yet.

Awesome trail, hikes the mountain behind the lakes.. finished at around 16 miles but was a wonderful day for a hike

We could not have asked for a better day to do this hike! Not a cloud in the sky, a bit breezy as you may assume, but phenomenal. We hiked all the way down to portage lake and were close to the glacier. Stopped along the way and breakers at the bottom and took us about 3.5 hours in total. Definitely would recommend to everyone

Stunning! Only made it to the top lookout as it was getting dark, but the views were amazing. Steep hike up for the first mile, but from there you get a nice view of the glacier and valley.

It was utterly beautiful. We saw lots of wildlife, even mountain goats. The trail was very muddy. Lots of sitting water.

I agree with the previous recommendation to continue to Crescent Lake! Only about another mile. Saw lots of Fireweed (gone to seed but still really cool with the fall colors).

Great Autumn, Day hike

Very easy hike/ nature walk. The falls are pretty cool when frozen

Great trail, overall easy but very long, so pack some snacks and water. Gets more difficult once reaching the boulders. We made it to Eagle Lake, but not Symphony Lake because of the boulders. Beautiful views, 2 bridges, not too many trees so can see into the distance. Moderately busy on a Sunday afternoon. Does get icy and muddy in some places.

Short jaunt down to the bank, or to the viewing deck. Only a mile or so a few up hills but easily do-able with small Children, dogs, and the elderly. Recent rain fall has made this trail muddy. Defiantly stop at the overlook ( barely off trail). It’s about half way to the fall on the left side. It features the gorge, creek, rocky cliff, and a snow capped peak in the distance. (Will provide pics) You can’t really see the full fall up close from the bank. However, From the view deck you can see the full fall from afar.

Great Trail. I didn’t go all the way to symphony lake but great views. I went when it was raining so lots of puddles but easy to go around. Great hike all together.

Favorite part of our entire Honeymoon in Alaska was this breathtaking trail. I mean it literally took our breath away with expert trails and stunning views. We made it to the lake from Whittier but didn't make it to the glacier. We kayaked for 3 hours prior to this hike so we were quite tired. Bring: Plenty of Water Extra Socks Good hiking shoes Your A Game

This was an amazing trail with ridiculously amazing views! Definitely check it out but anticipate getting your feet wet. Bring extra socks and shoes and maybe a walking stick.

I hiked this trail the second week in September, and the colors were phenomenal. The trail is really nice for most of the way, winding through the valley and crossing over the river. It gets a little hairy when you reach the rocks towards the end. There are piles of rocks to help you keep to the trail, and having my hiking poles helping with climbing over the rocks. There is a small summit past the structure that we didn’t go to, but a fellow hiker said it was about a half hour further, and he spotted some mountain goats up there. On our way out we saw a moose up on one of the hills. The bright blue lakes looked stunning with the fall colors, and if I do this hike again I would allow more time for exploring.
