Overall great trail. Muddy at spots, but well marked with multiple scenic loops.

Beautiful trail with great views, hiked mid September with an almost 3 yr old. The beginning of the trail was rough for the toddler as there were lots of rocks and tree roots sticking up from the ground. After we got past that it was smooth sailing.

Great hike with an amazing view! Especially now where you can see all the fall colors. Bit muddy, but it was okay. Signs could have been better

This is the second time I hiked this trail. To see the leaves change color into fall is & amazing view. Highly recommended for those who enjoy a great day hike.

Great trail. Conditions were slippery on the second half of the loop due to rain and fall leaves but nothing extreme. Did the trail with our 5 year old and she loved it.

I did this trail alone and it was nice for being early September. A bit chilly but one you get going I warmed up pretty good. I started the trail from the upper chena dome trailhead, there is also a lower chena dome trailhead. There is a $5 day fee or $10 overnight fee at the parking area, cash only. Going to mile 3 is a bunch of fallen trees and brush with possible cranberry and blueberry picking with one clear view around mile 2. A little after mile 3 it starts to open u and starts to become more steep. The trail is nice and beaten down so you won’t get lost. Around mile 3.5 and past, there are a few areas where it’s just rock (wear appropriate footwear) so the trail is hard to see but you can keep walking forward, follow the ridge line, and follow the rock stacks, then the trail will pop up again. Going to mile 4.5 is the top of the dome and allows you to see everything in the area and on a clear day you can see Denali and the mountain range past delta junction. Going past 4.5 you follow the ridge line and is a nice walk with a few more steep inclines and declines. The view doesn’t change much though. A little past mile marker 8 there is an airplane crash you are able to walk around before continuing on the trail. I went to see the crash so this is the point where I turned around. There was no water on the trail, so make sure you bring plenty. You are able to camp off the trail or go to the cabin around mile 18 which is a first come first serve. The 30 mile loop doesn’t link back to itself so plan for two vehicles if you do the entire trail. For speed, I went between 26-30 mins per mile with the inclines after mile 3 with breaks to only take pictures. Hope this helps you plan your adventure.

Loved this trail. Did the loop and the trail was a bit muddy after much rain but beautiful and easy to follow.

Started on the upper dome side, only went 8.5 miles in to the crashed C-46. Beautiful hike, easy to follow, steep on some parts. Totally worth it!

Beautiful trail with some nice rocks to climb at the top. Turn right at the fork. Map says 2-3 hours. Did it in 2.5 hours while monkeying about!! Nice way to prep for the Chena Hot Springs after.

This is an amazing trail! Beautiful scenery. The first half of the trail is up hill but a very gradual climb over the distance. It then levels out across the ridge and down hill into Chena. The last few miles soggier and had to find dry ways around. One of my favorites hikes. Bugs were terrible. Did late July. You will need a car at each end or you can rent a fat tire bike at Chena bike back to your car.

Awesome little hike, perfect amount of incline and decline to feel accomplished but not too tired to go out and grab a beer after. Loved this one! Great condition of the trail

Beautiful scenery but the mosquitoes made it much more difficult to enjoy. We liberally sprayed ourselves but still couldn’t manage to stop for more than 3 seconds without being swarmed. Would recommend for colder weather or if you plan on going at a quick pace with no stops.

Awesome trail with amazing views of the river at the bottom and the surrounding hills and valley at the top. It can be steep in places and requires patients

Okay hike. I did it with my family. The views are probably the best around Chena, but compared to nearby areas (Denali, Anchorage), it's quite underwhelming.

This hike will get your blood pumping. It’s doable for most anyone but there is some incline! I didn’t go up the boardwalk but think that is the more gradual side to go up. Along the river was a little mud and some mosquitoes. The view at the top is great so it’s worth it! Trailhead is well marked from the road and there are pit toilets. There is a parking fee but think it was only 5.00. I would definitely recommend this hike!

Fist mile or so was beautiful next to the river and then we were swarmed by bugs constantly. We had sprayed ourselves down and our dogs. No stopping on the trail or you’d be covered in bugs! Me and my dog are covered in bug bites. Won’t be doing this one again.
