I really like this park.
The overlook at the quarry is a big draw, but the sunrise thru the trees on the Orange trail is spectacular.(Sunrays & spiderwebs)

I normally do the White to Yellow then loop back for 6 miles or.......if Im feeling frisky, White to Yellow to Orange. There are really only 4 uphills on Orange but be ready.

No view :( I’ll go again and try a different trail. I’ve been told if I continue up lizard loop there is a great view from there. It’s a fantastic gem in the city. The 3 stars in no way reflects Ruffner as a whole, just this particular trail was sort of a letdown when it came to a view.

great trail. very kid friendly.. even took my 8 month old (not in a stroller, on my hip)

Being from Birmingham makes this hike even better. I can still enjoy nature while also being close to home! The trail is filled with flowers and unique creatures! The quarry view is gorgeous but my favorite view is the one of downtown. Super cool.

Great for kids and a nice ‘entry level’ hike.

This is a combination of a number of trails at Ruffner, notably Buckeye, Pipeline, and Lizard Loop. Buckeye is solid moderate plus, as it is mostly a straight up the mountain. The other two are only sporadically used (compared to other Ruffner trails) and could use a little maintenance, but are basically pretty flat. However, due to some loose rocks, I wouldn’t advise the western part of the Pipeline trail for older hikers/walkers. Do not use tennis shoes on this portion...wear hiking shoes. The eastern half of the Pipeline trail gets very little traffic, and is a great place to see wild turkeys and other wildlife. Lizard Loop is a nice walk in the woods with some old growth trees forming something of a ‘cathedral’ at the curve in the lollipop.

Great Hike, lots of trail options to go as long and as far as you want. Hiking with group of Boy Scouts and Siblings, the trail was good for all ages.

Great trail! Take Possum Loop to circle the quarry to see several great overlooks and to access the quarry itself.

Visited today with a chihuahua and a lab puppy and we all had a blast! Took a turn a little early but the trails were well marked and we found our way easily (the detour was beautiful regardless). Even though I had to carry both pups by the end, we had an awesome time and took a break to enjoy the view.

Great trails with many optional detours. The main trail can get busy on weekends. A treasure to be found in Birmingham!

This one has some very challenging trails. It was difficult for me , I am not in the best physical condition however, I loved it! A favorite.

Walked this trail with my 16 year old son...the quarry was a nice reward. The trail is not too difficult but there are plenty of ways to go off trail and make it harder. Very clean, free from trash.

Ruffner is really nice area, and is well marked.

The map on the app looks like a combination of a lot of separate trails...no worries, as they are all good.

I will tell you: the ridge and valley trail is not a quaint stroll in the woods. If you aren't in at least moderate shape, save this one for later.

Ruffner Mtn. Has a lot of great trails, and it is hard to believe you are in the middle of a 1.1 million person metro area when you are on them.

The quarry trail isn't difficult, but there are a lot of nooks and crannies to explore once there (the quarry). Be forewarned: you will wondered why every post-apocalyptic movie isn't shot in BHAM while on the quarry floor.

This is a sweet trail. Be careful on the back side of the quarry if you go that way.

If you truly want to spend the day immersed in nature and feel like your alone amongst the trees Ruffner is the place to go!

The trails are well marked and modern. We will come back again. We did the white and orange trail. It takes 3 miles for both trail.

Lizard Loop is a fairly level 1 mile loop. Great canopy of trees and plants. Gravel trail in parts but narrows to a dirt path that feels more secluded.

This park is the best kept hiking secret in Birmingham. In fact, will people stop giving this five stars so it stays lightly trafficked? Thanks!

pretty okay hike, better views when it's all green

We had a great time. Challenging at times. Good views.

Awesome trails and staff !!

Great trail

This was great place!!

Great trail for a day hike. Easy and enjoyable. Would go again. Still a lot left to explore on the trail. Safe and not super busy.

Took Ridge & Valley trail... continous inclines and declines that are very challenging on legs . Decided to take Crusher trail along the way.

FYI....this is not a easy trail if you're just a beginner hiker. The hike back to the top is a straight incline of over a mile with twists and turns.
