Gorgeous trails on the loop. Have many options to make it as easy or hard as you like. Definitely one of my favorites.

Well marked, beautiful trail. A must for Huntsvile hiking.

Very well marked. We took 4 kids, ages 4-8, and I wore a baby on my back. They navigated a lot of the trail for us by looking for the blue marks on trees. The middle of the trail is on the side of the mountain, so make sure the kids watch and have them stay to the side of the trails great walking!

Well marked trail with lots of View points. The waterfall was a nice bonus.

Easy, flat and to the point. Nice trail if you wanna get a good walk/run in. Lots of overlooks along the way and marked really well.

I really enjoyed this trail. Found lots of geocaches along the way, too.

loved it, until Tollgate Trail from High Trail back to the parking lot. glad I had ankle support! very, very, very rocky.

Had views of both sides of the mountain. Great for young kids

It was pretty nice. It has a lot of beautiful views. Just if you go make sure you have cash .It costs to get in

good views. was surprised to see the observatory, didn't realize it was there.

Rugged trail, but beautiful and worth it.

This would make for a great running trail - if you're into that sort of thing.

Easy trail - kind of narrow in places

Storm damage on the trails. Make sure you have ankle support.

A nice hike and the bugs weren't bad at all. Wish I would have brought my trail runners because the trail network is perfect for running. Good hike!

I would rate this more moderate than easy. Toll gate has a steady incline for at least a mile and it's very rocky. It's a very nice hike.

Starting at the Land Trust Parking lot yields many variations of trails. There are many unmarked trails on the map and all are very easy. This is the most direct route to the north side overlook of Monte Sano State Park if starting at the the Land Trust parking lot.

5 stars for what it is; a nice meandering trail that is not overly technical.

My tripod dog and I did this and had a great time. It was very easy for both of us and gave him a couple of places to splash in shallow water. We ran into other hikers, runners, and bikers.

The Old Railway Bed Trail is the best part of this 5.2 mile loop in my opinion for scenery. Takes about two hours to walk and is well marked for jogging, but will need good ankles and shoes as this is a rocky Trail. Well hiked, pet friendly, mountain bikers and joggers.

Its a fairly boring trip. Not much to see and most views are covered by trees unless you do it during the winter months. Worth it if you are in Huntsville area, but I wouldn't drive to see this trail

It was a very nice hike. Perfect time of year for seeing colorful leaves. Course was just what we were looking for to start off hiking. We took our dog who absolutely had a wonderful time.

Very easy 3 mile hike. We saw some friendly deer that just watched us from 15 feet away. There were several other hikers as well as some mountain bike rider. All-in-all it was a good way to get a little morning exercise.

Had great hike from this trail head on a couple of the trails that intersect this main trail. The Rail Bed trail is very hard being on the old rail bed, the rocks used for the bed are larger than modern railroad rocks and very treacherous to traverse after the rain the day before. We hiked 3/4 of the trail and picked up the Fagan Springs trail and found the spring. It was cold and clear. Very refreshing. We made our way down the mountain on the Alms House trail and found the foundation next to a creek. We began exploring for the caves when the weather changed for the worst, with a menacing sounding thunder storm coming up on the opposite side of the mountain from us. It was a fast ascent through the trail system to get back to the Trail Head that was very changing. My only negative would be that the falls and creek were mostly dry this time of year.
